    safeguarding training for children

Not for the first time FA documents are vague. This is from the safeguarding guidelines issued to county FAs. It says every referee needs either a SFA or a SFC This page outlines the options: What safeguarding qualification do I need to complete if I am a referee? It's not hard and fast...

    Just ended my ref career

Yeah, I don't agree with that at all. It actually has the opposite effect, it se-escalates the situation, or perhaps it simply doesn't reinforce the negative behaviour. Whatever, it works.

    Just ended my ref career

This is the best advice. It makes such a difference. It gives the impression of unassailable self confidence and the effect is like magic dust. Like the teacher who shows weakness is the one who loses control of the classroom, the referee that makes it clear the players are getting to him is the...

Why Club Marks do my head in

This is not quite comparable because it relates to a grassroots league, but you might find this interesting. I took every club mark awarded to referees over the course of a season, just shy of 7,000 marks from 188 teams. The team with the lowest average mark had an average of 65. The highest...

    safeguarding training for children

You need a safeguarding children qualification to register as a referee at all. Even if you don't do youth football. This is for the whole of England, it's not per county. The exception is if you are 14 or 15, then you need to do safeguarding for all.

Also, it says you're a company registered in England but I can't find any such company and the contact details on the Ts&Cs are blank. (It is a legal requirement to include your company number and registered address.)

    A&H International

Good news. This has been rumoured for a while. I wonder who's running it.

    Does offsides reset every touch

If blue 8 passes to blue 9 while 9 is in an offside position, but red 5 intercepts the pass and brings the ball under control, can blue 9 challenge red 5 for it? If not, at what point can blue 9 take part again?

    AVL v TOT

I agree it's very hard to understand. I don't think it's a pen. It emphatically is not a clear and obvious error.

    Arsenal Vs Brighton

    You're right, it was Kiwior.

    Arsenal Vs Brighton

Anyone else think there was a foul on Gabriel right before Brighton's first goal? It looks like somebody treads on his heel and his shoe comes off.

    When is he offside

If a player in an offside position attempts to head the ball, unopposed, but and misses, does that count as "challenging for the ball"?

    Arsenal Vs Brighton

A friend of mine is there and confirmed exactly this.

    Arsenal Vs Brighton

Apparently the assistant on the bench side signalled for offside from a throw in.

NL Final - Chesterfield Vs Notts County

Exactly what I thought. Very odd. Edit: from Law 12: "... if the offence is playing the ball a second time (with or without the hand/arm) after a restart before it touches another player, the goalkeeper must be sanctioned if the offence stops a promising attack or denies an opponent or the...

Observation aside, what would you suggest to parks football referee they should do in that situation? Bear in mind that there are probably several players who are not wearing the correct colour socks.

At that level it was an Observer, not a Referee Coach, until this season. I started by saying they did not notify referees until this season. If you're going to be pernickety you need to pay closer attention. Apparently the undershorts were not visible until the player started running and his...

    Twitter post/rant

Until this season one at least one county FA would not tell referees on 7->6 or 6->5 when they were being observed. One referee told me that on a pre-match kit check in the rain the players were gathered under some trees for shelter. The referee had already spotted the observer, he was also...
