    4 substitute opportunities

In a step 3 league game I witnessed 5 subs made over 4 substitute stopages. All 4 were in play, by that I mean none made at HT. I always thought teams were only allowed 3 substitute opportunities?

UEFA RAP 2024-1 E1, whose foul? Contending for a ball in the air

Totally agree, my take is blue is watching the ball and white is watching the man. He doesn't even jump until the ball is past him

    4th match. First 11 a side.

Congrats on your 1st 11 a side game. I only do 11 a side now and find them much easier. Higher level U11's and 12's (prem teams etc) press hard and the pitch is much smaller. This leads to the players coming together more often and temperatures can quickly rise. Full size pitch means these...

    Manager RC

that would be amazing! If he calls me a cheat again he'll definitely be getting pinged again.

    Manager RC

Thank you, the only reason I ask is because on the 8th December i sent a manager off. This was their last game of 2024 and i have the same team on Sunday. Was just curious as to whether he should be on the sideline? I'm not concerned by him being there, not the first or last manager i'll RC...

    Manager RC

In youth football (u16's), when one of the coaching staff are issued with a RC what (if any) punishment do they receive? Is it just a monetary fine, or do they also have to miss games?

    Villa Vs Palace

Clear penalty, no idea why he was ent to review it but glad he stuck to his decision. Then you have the clowns on MoTD saying it's "harsh".

    Blocking Keepers Kick Out Hands

I tend to take the stance that if you're tracking / shadowing the goal keeper along the area then that is an attempt to stop the GK releasing the ball into play. If the forward is stock still as in the OP then the GK has no excuse for kicking it straight at them.

    World Cup England vs Nigeria

The penalty given and then overturned for England was nowhere near as clear a penalty as the one that wasn't even given to Nigeria. Blatant barge in the back by Bronze reminiscent of the foul by France on Mason Mount

    Goal celebrations

Isn't this exactly what happened when Arsenal scored a last minute goal v Bournemouth, no sanctions then I believe

    Foul Throws

I think all depends on ability as well as age. Lower league U12's you could be there all day taking TI's as both teams are struggling to take a proper TI. If this is the case and both teams are poor then i'll let it go, pulling the really poor. If it's a better level, or 1 team can take a proper...

    Man Utd vs barca

As said above, once you place hands on the opposition you give the ref a decision to make. Was there a need to place hands on him? No, and i'm a man Utd fan!

    Not great first game imo

Glad you're getting back out there. Don't let the minority ruin it for you, because in my experience the majority of coaches, parents and players are just happy to have a ref and will treat you accordingly. It's just a shame the minority have a huge impact on us and are normally the games we...

    Dundee Game today.

technically it may well be a foul but there's no chance i'm calling that on a Sunday morning and finishing my game peacefully

Thoughts on this, causing some debate.

Got to admit, one look at that in real time on a Sunday morning and I wouldn't be giving a penalty. I'm willing to admit i'd be wrong in many people's eyes, but honestly, i don't think i'd give it, unless i've got a great view of that trailing leg.

    Weather frustrated few weeks

I remember my local team, Redditch Utd playing 14 games in 18 days in the 97/98 season with the last 9 being played in 9 days. I also think, but could be mis-remembering they had to play 2 games on one day, fielding 2 separate teams. I'm sure there's an article on it somewhere, they were in the...

    Fines for u/18 u/16 games

Totally agree. I ref a lot of youth U13-U18 mainly and there are normally signs a player is frustrated or mistiming a tackle or two. Speak to them, attempt to calm them down but if that fails / the offence is so bad then you have to take appropriate action.

Manchester City vs. Manchester United - Offside or Not?

this still that's doing the rounds is very misleading. The ball is running away from Akanji, there's no way he's getting there 1st. Walker may have got closer to Bruno if he knew Bruno was the only option to score, but imo that's on Walker for switching off. Ederson however, i believe would have...

    Different colour referee kit

I'd disagree and say the madness lies in allowing clubs to wear black and therefore forcing referees to buy more kit. It's a simple rule for clubs: wear any colour you like but not black! what's hard about that?
