Have you / would you ever clear dog muck off your pitch, pre match

That's nothing. I once went to a sheepdog trial and found a dead cricketer on the middle of the field.

    Not so violent conduct

Fair point. However my point concerned an attempt strike. Violent conduct specifies the application of excessive force or brutality. This suggests contact need be made. If someone took a swing but missed and was held back I might consider a caution for aggressive attitude.

    Not so violent conduct

But you can't attempt to strike with excessive force. The force would be the application of violence upon the victim. I.e. there would have to be contact.

    Confidence

I've got bags of one of those!

    Promotion

We paid a tenner which we will get back if we complete the process (pass or fail). I suppose its to stop those who start and then drop out before the end.

But I got the ball ref

How many times do we hear that . Today's match, blue v red. Blue attacker heading towards the goal with just the goalie to face. Ball bounces high from a pass (if I remember right), at about waist height on the blue attacker. Red goalie is stood to her right, coming in to challenge for the...

    Foul?

Matty I think that we are basically singing from the same hymn sheet, just to a slightly different tune.

    Referees responsibility

    Not a 24 hour one!

    Foul?

Hmm. Not sure I agree. There is no wording that identifies a generic offence under "Challenge". All challenges are specified, e.g. fair charge is a challenge, a fair tackle is a challenge, yet offences are specified under these titles (charge/tackle). If a player tackled fairly, they would...

    Foul?

No offence. If he has made a challenge (i.e a tackle) and has missed, there is no offence. You might be able to sell an "attempts to kick" but if the challenge is a mis-timed slide for example, which misses everything, there is no offence of "attempts to tackle". I had one recently with a...

    County Cup finals!

I was given the heads up for a Women's County Cup Semi - running the line, and have since received the letter inviting me to a seminar for Cup Finals. I have heard a whisper it is for the Women's Cup Final, but I won't find out for sure until the seminar next week. All suited and booted. Will...

    Pass Back Rule

I'm sure I've seen a clip on here where a player got down and headed back to the keeper. No offence of circumventing if I remember correctly. It was a Youtube clip but I've struggled to find it.

Junior/Youth Did I expect too much

No mate I don't think that you were expecting too much. I can't speak for all, but my view is that as a referee we are there as representatives of the FA (as much as anything else). We are also paid, which whilst not a lot, makes our position professional. As such we should act...

    Now I know

Good on you Jack. A letter has gone around one of the youth leagues in our county warning of the continued reduction of qualified refs because of the behaviour og parents and coaches. When they have no refs maybe they will think.

    Not covered in the laws

Instruction was passed from our FA that peeing at the side of the pitch amounts to offensive behaviour, especially where those parks are public and/or bounded by peoples houses. As such, offenders should be shown the red card. A bit harsh but I can see where they are coming from.

So, who is definitely going for promotion this year

Paid my £10! Only hope that I can get the games in as Mrs Mick is getting very anti with me spending most of my spare weekends at footy.

    Who do we support?

I support a wife, three kids, a few million feckless individuals who won't/can't be bothered to work, untold Illegal immigrants who despite their illegal status receive state funding, 600+ MPs who take more and more money for doing even less of worth to society that the feckless individuals...

    Referee Career

Graeme. Just a quick word to say how much I appreciate the site. It's now the only one I use to keep track of my games. Is there likely to be any chance of getting it on IE. The only reason I ask is so that I can access it at work during my breaks. Ta.

    Promotion

Micky. In my opinion, yes mate, get cracking at Open Age. It will be the making (or breaking) of you. There are not enough refs doing OA and I think that those of us who do suffer as a consequence. You do have to put up with a bit more, but it is generally from the players (who you can...

    Southend vs. Chesterfield

I can just see it now...."Mr Taylor. I'm a ref too. About that offside decision........" Don't we all get one of these?;)
