    Pop quiz....

I think the idea is that you check the player's equipment when they come on as a substitute in case they have had a chance to change anything that you wouldn't have noticed. They may have sharpened a stud while sitting on the touchline, or may simply have removed their shin pads. Also, the...

    In Service Training.

Ours was a written paper. However, at Dartford FC (where we did ours), we sat around tables with about 7 of us on each table. The questions were relatively easy from what I can remember - in some ways easier than the 7-6 and 6-5 papers!

Usually, it's a talk carried out by Neale Barry, outlining what the expectations of you are once you reach level 4 - how you should dress on arrival at games, ensuring administration is up to standard, closing dates on MOAS, etc. We then had Dan Meeson going through a couple of videos from...

    Referee Fees

One of my local Sunday leagues pay £35 and the other £40. Midweek league is £30 and £25 for referees and assistants respectively. Saturday's (supply league) is £32 for referees and £25 for assistants + 30p per mile. Contributory leagues are the standard.

    select group watch

My understanding from the article is that the watch is a smart watch. The Premier League have then developed an app in partnership with TAG Heuer and the PGMOL which provides all of the functions the V800's were doing (distance, speed, time, etc.).

    Recording your match

The only games that I have footage of are ones which have been played at either Academies (Arsenal, Chelsea, etc.), or from highlight edits on club's YouTube accounts. It is a good tool to analyse the smaller details that you want to perfect in yourself and also see what assessors are seeing...

    New FA PGMO DOGSO presentation

I have it, just uploading it to my Dropbox now. Will post a link on this comment once upload has been completed. Here it is: https://www.dropbox.com/s/uir0x4bs95tllf1/PGMO%20Conference%202016%20Workshop%20-%20DOGSO.mp4?dl=0

    Sticking together as a team.

If you know the referee was wrong, don't agree with them. It makes you look a fool. Try to say something neutral if possible, something like 'we have different angles'. You've not dropped the referee in it, and you haven't agreed with the manager. However, if the referee has made a massive...

    Touchline Buzzer Flags

To anyone who either owns a pair or who has owned a pair - I have a quick question. When the battery in the receiver is low, it beeps an annoying number of times before powering up to let you know there isn't much/any charge left in the batteries. However, how do you know whether you have to...

    New Nike Kit

I think the Kent FA badges are different to those that most counties provide. If I remember correctly, yours appear to be almost printed, a bit like the FAMOA decal. I think other counties embroid their logo onto a black blanking square - which doesn't quite look as smart.

    FA CORE Programme

If it's anything like the development groups I have been a part of (both FA and County), then you will probably have monthly meetings (usually on a Sunday). I can't imagine they will be too much different. Although, there may also be some extra meetings during the closed season to keep everyone...

    Managing the before match "stuff"

Hi Jeff, If it's possible, I'd speak to either the manager when you get there or a local referee who is on the leagues that the teams are in. Ask them whether they would like to do a respect handshake or if it is standard practice for the league the teams play in. If it isn't usually expected...

    FA Cup 2016-17

Keep hopeful - there are still the replays to be appointed to! They'll be played on Tuesday 9th August and will be appointed by your county.

    Quitting Refereeing

I'd start with informing your county RDO that you no longer wish to receive appointments for the 2016/17 season. You can then also ask them to re-classify you as a level 10 (inactive) official. If I were you, I'd still register though. You never know, in a years time you may want to come back...

Best place to get the new Nike kit

This was only an advert for 'Centre Leaders', rather than for us to apply to. I believe as above, the RDO's just nominated candidates.

    FA CORE Programme

Hi all, I have seen a couple of posts on social media over the past couple of days regarding referees finding out that they have been either nominated to, or have been accepted onto the respective FA CORE programme for their level. Who recommends the referees for this? & does anyone know when...

Re-take or IDFK the other way

I'm quite sure the ball wasn't on the exact blade of grass that the foul took place on. Ask them to move the ball a couple of yards and ask for a retake. Solves all the problems, keeps both the assessor and the player happy!

    New Nike Kit

KitLocker has the shirt for £30 without a badge, the shorts for £18.75 and the socks for £6.74. Bringing the kit to a grand total of £55.49 without a badge. I'm sure you could find a local embroider who would put the badge on for you for less than it would cost to get it all from A&H...
