    How do you treat it?

Ben, speak to your teacher who will be assessing you. Some users on the forum will insist full laws apply, which I agree with to a point. However, remember that the students, parents and teachers are not expecting you to caution everything which would be a caution in an open age game. Talk to...

    Appts on Line

Ben, as far as I know there isn't. If you contact either Andy or Adrian at the office, they'll provide you with the relevant details. If you have a 'Capital Referee' to hand, the contact details are all on the back page.

    Fitness

As far as I am aware, there are not currently any fitness requirements for you to pass the course. However, if you wish to seek promotion to level 4 (in the future), your fitness will be assessed as part of this process. Don't let this deter you though! The fitter you are, the easier...

    Whole Game System - Fault

I've had that same problem. I got bored of trying, submitted the reports and downloaded the PDF, which fortunately had the text within it. If this doesn't happen, just give your RDO a ring and they'll probably ask you to email the report to them.

    Any room for manoeuvre

As far as I am aware, 73 is the cut-off and it is strictly enforced. With the high number of competition for a small number of places this year, I presume it'll be strictly enforced. Potentially it could become a problem if they allow you through with 72.8, why shouldn't they allow someone with...

    Flags

Hi Andrew, firstly, welcome. Secondly, if you are going to be 'running the line' to more experienced officials, generally they will be the ones who will provide the flags. However, it doesn't hurt to carry a set of your own incase they forget theirs. If it is mainly going to be yourself and...

    Flamini's tackle

Because Kevin Friend has seen it and taken action. If he hadn't seen it, the FA would take a look at it and ask for his opinion if he had seen it.

    Referee's "Club Marks"

I personally think it is a positive. Firstly, you may have an assessor come and watch you 5 times a season, providing you with a mark on 5 occasions. If you officiate 50 matches a season, only 10% of your games have been marked - you may have had an outstanding game or contrastingly a shocking...

Game Called off - Who's paid and when

All in the competition rules. Generally if you haven't arrived at the ground and it is called off, you won't be paid at all. If you have arrived then you may be paid expenses or an 'inspection fee'.

RefScorer innovation - device for scoring and recording matches

Hi, It sounds like you are describing this made by Spintso: http://www.spintso.se/en/pda/pda__1583 Personally I wouldn't buy one. To me, in the clips provided by Spintso of the device in use during the game, it just looks like the referee is on his phone halfway through the game!

Finding out the outcome of a report

Generally you won't find out. If you contact your county FA, they may tell you, but equally, they may not. I don't think we have any entitlement to find out the outcome of a misconduct report or whatever else.

    Dissent

After the incredibly helpful comment from Padfoot, I'm not sure if there is too much more I can really add. :hmmm: Remember that dissent is basically anything which disagrees with a decision you have made. However, do take into account how the comments are said and whether any expletives have...

    nutrition question

Jack, try to use journal searches to find scientific research. Something like Google Scholar, or PubMed. Some you will have to pay for - but there will be a number of good quality journals which are also free. It will allow you to read into the topic a little more and draw your own conclusions...

    Champions League: Extra Officials

I remember reading/hearing somewhere that they originally did start on the opposition side to the assistant. However, the referees requested them to be moved to the other side due to the position affecting their diagonal run when they got close to the penalty area.

    Going from 7 to 6 - Jump to 5?

Some counties will allow it. However, generally they want you to sign up for it at the start of the promotion year. I've no idea which counties allow it, so it may be worth giving your RDO a call to see if your county offers it - if it would be something you'd be interested in. However, your...

    in the back

Watch the elbows of the player behind. If the player from behind maintains bent elbows throughout the challenge, there isn't any pushing from his side - the player in front may simply be 'backing in' to the player behind him. However, if the arms extend and the elbows lock, then there has been a...
