    Travelling as a team

On the league I am on, the referee secretary will organise the joint travel. When the fixtures come through, if your has an asterisk next to it, then you are set to be travelling with whoever else has an asterisk. This would be left up to the pair (or trio) to organise. It is not always the...

    Cards not allowed

I believe that to be incorrect. While the cautions aren't submitted if they are handed out, I believe the academies have their own in house rules. They record cautions for their players and if they get so many they are banned - or so I have been told. No doubt if they lashed out at an opposition...

    Assessors

Not to put a slur on the promotion from level 7 to 6, but as long as you can turn up, look smart and officiate a game without too many issues, you shouldn't have too many problems. From my understanding, to get to 5, there is more of a focus on positioning. Give it a go, if you make it, great...

    Ref position without Assistant Referee

For the positioning in your assessments, the assessor generally just wants to see you take up various positions. Rather than consistently taking up the same position for corner kicks (behind the rear post), change it around, make your starting position different each corner. Once the corner has...

New kit for a new ref

@Chris104 What about the Umbro Diamond kit from A&H. It'll set you back £5 for the shirt, and £15 for the shorts (which are now made by A&H, hence the increase in price) and then another £5 for socks. £25 in total for a whole kit isn't too unreasonable!

Mid season change to L5-4 promotion criteria

As Bester has said, my understanding is that it is designed in the way it is, so that all of the promotion seminars can take place before the pre-season begins and then the newly promoted officials (at the higher end of the spectrum) manage to get a few matches worth of experience under their...

    Premier league officials.

Yes, you can customise the sport profiles, which display when exercising/timing, to show whatever you like. Heart Rate, Distance, Time, etc.

    A strange five minutes

Apologies, had become completely distanced from the OP and thought we were discussing additional time. In that case, I completely side with yourself, the game cannot be shortened during the match, should be decided before-hand. Wasn't blaming you at all for not understanding, was just trying...

    A strange five minutes

This is where the issue is coming. The points you are bringing up, to attempt to stupefy my comments from earlier on are fundamentally wrong in law. As quoted on page 29: I am unsure of the definition of 'discretion' in other areas of the world, but according to the Oxford English dictionary...

    A strange five minutes

I'm not too sure what this whole reporting nonsense is about. We are there to facilitate the game and allow it to take place, we cannot be demanding that the players play football. In law, you would not have a leg to stand on in terms of cautioning any players. Reporting it to the league would...

    Nike Training Kit 2015/16

According to Jeff Pettitt of A&H, the training wear from last season (2014/15) will carry over into this forthcoming season.

    Premier league officials.

I don't think they do. I think that has been clever branding by A&H and a few other companies so that officials feel they have the same gear as the Premier League guys (as the Limit and V800 look quite similar!). There's about a £300 difference between the two!

They wear the Polar V800 on one wrist and then the Goal Decision System specialised watch on the other.

    Assessment 2- 5 to 4

As far as I am aware, it is all done on a banding system. In short, the officials are marked by assessors and the clubs. The best performing referees are given AA, and the worst EE. At the end of the season, the AA's are generally promoted and the EE's are demoted (unless in their first season -...

    Studs or moulds?

In my opinion, moulds will do you for the whole season! When the ground is really boggy, they aren't as good as studs, but will do the job with about 85% effectiveness. When the ground stiffens up, they are still good and behave like astros. For me, I'd personally pick up a pair of moulds over...

    Kinesiology Taping

I sprained my ankle earlier this season, ordered some of this stuff and found it helped recovery quite a bit! If anything, it has a psychological effect. I felt confidence that my ankle would hold while wearing it. Now if/when my ankle flares up again, I'll pop some back on for a week just to...
