If he was stationary I would say no foul, but he steps directly into him and also sticks his leg across him. I am surprised that the ref didn’t give it in real time, but the fact that VAR don’t suggest another look is beyond belief.
As a parent CAR I once got so much abuse from opposing parents for giving a tight offside against their forward that I called the ref over, gave him the flag and said he could ask someone else to do it. Some overweight idiot stood right behind me calling me a f******* cheat and then other...
Once they go to 11v11 (U13s) it's basically OA football in every other aspect other than duration so for me that includes cautions. The only difference is I am more likely to give them a warning where possible which usually does the trick (usually!)
As a relatively new ‘old’ ref myself… Welcome!
Best thing I do now that I didn’t do at the start is I talk a lot more now. I try to give a bit of a running commentary to myself (no foul, accidental, not a handball, etc) which I find gives me confidence in my decision making. Try not to...
I am a groundskeeper for my son’s club and we regularly call games off if heavy rain is forecast or the games have had heavy footfall the previous week. Whilst it may look ok, two or three games on a Saturday after heavy rain or when already delicate could ruin it for the rest of the season. We...
VAR is just backing up a bad on-field decision here because any contact (wrongly) overrules a C&O error.
Sterling got booked for simulation under a lot more contact.
I would have thought that installing a small camera in each post looking directly towards the corner flag could be introduced fairly cheaply and would cover the majority of incidents.
One of those ‘what football expects’ situations. An outfield player does that exact same challenge and there’s every chance they will be in trouble, whereas it’s perfectly acceptable for a GK.
Darwin Nunez committed a foul, then kicked the ball away for which he received a YC. He then turned and clapped the AR upon receiving his caution for which no further action was taken, so I would say no, he wasn't consistent within the game.
I did my first girls game this weekend (U12 cup game) and only gave two fouls. Game was played in good spirits, but there just wasn’t the same level of aggression that I get with boys the same age. I really enjoyed it and it was a nice change to see a lot more mutual respect from everyone on the...
Maybe. And maybe a statement along those lines following such a high profile outburst would have made DD’s dismissal more understandable (which I’m not saying it wasn’t)
Without it, it just comes across as inconsistent.
Strange that Dalot sees red when Haaland screaming in Simon Hooper’s face and making physical contact only earns him a yellow…
That old devil called inconsistency
Our youth league has rules where a team can remove a player if they go 4 goals up and also a mercy rule whereby a result can be called if a team go 8 goals down, and the rest of the game is played as a development game.
All this stops before it goes to 11v11 though.
“throw the ball with both hands from behind and over the head”
Surely this means it can’t be released too early ie before it comes over the head? That was the only thing BS’s one looked like to me.
