    Finding out club mark average

I'm a league referees' appointments officer, and I get a lot of people asking for club marks. They either get a) nothing there to worry about, or b) something there to worry about!! If it's B, the call is usually going the other way. The only exception I made to this was a 6-4 candidate last...

    New Level 4 Advice

What was your average assessment mark to put you there Darius? If you don't mind sharing of course!

    15 year old footballer

Absolutely tragic. I work in A+E and sadly it happens more than you'd like to think. We all take refereeing seriously, getting wrapped up in observer's marks, club marks, development groups, promotion, cup finals etc - something like this happens and it makes us all realise how trivial those...

    Level 3 Promotions

Best of luck to you both - it will be worth the wait!

    Level 3 Promotions

Yes - the level 3s were announced on the 26th April last year, but the new 4s not until 9th May.

    Level 3 Promotions

I would say at least a week today, perhaps even w/c 8th May. Could be early next week, but I'd be surprised. There's a lot to take into account - how many have gone to level 3 and from which pools/leagues (which they now know!), how many current level 4s are calling it a day, how many current...

    Level 3 Promotions

Hope you celebrated in style - if it had been me today, I'd be half cut by now! EDIT: Thinking about it, maybe that's why it wasn't me..... ;)

    Level 3 Promotions

If I remember correctly from last year, wasn't this your first year at Level 4? If so, that's a bloomin' superb effort. Congratulations!!

    Level 3 Promotions

Congratulations mate - one of the toughest promotions to get. Everyone invited to level 3 has had a superb season.

    Academy U15

I agree Darius, but you're talking about U18 Professional Development League games or Youth Alliance games refereed by level 4s, in which the players compete in a league and are paid scholars learning their trade. The U11-U16 'academy' games are generally a more sterile environment where cards...

    Ref: Stories from the weekend

No danger of that when I'm refereeing

    Academy U15

Agree entirely - these are the future professional players, which says it all really!

    Dress Code: Sensible clothing

I wore a V-neck jumper over my shirt and tie to a game this season, and I'm not from London or Essex..... My dad is though, and he told me to wear it! :p:p:p:p

    cup final yesterday

What a twonk. This is great advice. When I first got level 4 a couple of seasons ago, I found it difficult to manage these "personalities" (or w***ers as I prefer to call them) and a senior colleague gave me the above advice. It's your dressing room, it's your game - you run the show. Love...

    MOAS temporary location?

I've disabled it, I guess that's basically the same thing? Not a big issue really but as I'm never going to live there again, I was looking for a way to get rid entirely! Oh well

    MOAS temporary location?

Might be me being thick, but how do you delete a temporary location on MOAS that you no longer use? It says "To amend the following record click Update or to remove it click Delete" but there's no delete button!

Change to Observer report writing Level 4

Blimey, 78? I could only dream of such a mark! Was that a level 3 Brian?

Change to Observer report writing Level 4

I got a 75 on my first assessment of the marking season - happy days! Back to a good old 72 from Saturday, so no real change from last season. I've never understood why, when no-one really gets lower than 67 and no-one really gets higher than 77, they can't just mark out of 10.

    Open Age Cup Final upcoming

Be careful not to just copy someone else's pre match - it's pointless if you don't know what it means to YOUR game. I've heard referees doing their first few games with neutral ARs recite someone else's pre match verbatim with little idea what they're actually on about, and then in the game...
