    Cautioning

I have a YC in my notebook - top left shirt pocket, and a YC in the front Left shorts pocket. If it's an incident where I need to slow things down and let things cool off (most of them) I call the player over, stop the watch, and take out the notebook explaining why he is being cautioned. Check...

    Alan Pardew headbutt

I can see where you're coming from, and yes, he has every right to stand in the technical area, but fir me, the fact that he moved out of the way for the ball to pass, but stepped back in the way of the player was provocative to say the least. Player running in sees Pardew move so keeps running...

    Foul?

Always a tricky one without seeing the incident itself. Was Blue player careless in the way he challenged? Given that he missed both the ball and player it would seem so. There are grounds with which you could sell the FK as there doesn't have to be contact made to be a foul, although it does help!

Which way were you playing again?

would have been second if not for goal difference! (by three goals) All because there was a team that defaulted the game to us, we were given a 3-0 win. The others in the top 4 beat them 15-0, 12-2 & 22-1!

Always a good indicator of a foul or not in the women's game.

    Alan Pardew headbutt

Hull are in a hurry because they are behind, Pardew quite blatantly appears to block the HUll player from retrieving the ball for a quick throw. Hull player shoves him out of the way and Pardew reacts. Replace Pardew with a NUFC Player and what have you got? Provacative behaviour and delaying...

    Alan Pardew headbutt

Not sure where the red card is for the Hull player, all he does is give Pardew a shove - yup, Pardew should be disciplined - not sure how, but we shouldn't be seeing him in the dugouts for a good long while, and he should face action from his employers as well although I'm not totally confident...

Which way were you playing again?

ummmm......ref (schoolteacher I think, not a 'proper' ref) blew his whistle, signaled offside (I was inside my own half by a yard and two defenders on the half way line). Gobby little midfielder we had, had a go "Ref! He was in his own half! He can't be" - to be fair, he had been mouthing at...

Classic things you hear whilst refereeing...

Natural position is something we should be judging case-by-case - and yes, when standing, still, arms can be slightly away from the body - but when running/turning/jumping/tackling etc can be a tough call.

    Team Talks

I do, but only really to introduce myself and check the kit. I let them know that I'm here to enjoy a good game of football, as are they, and that if they concentrate on playing the game, I won;t need to step up and referee it. I'd rather let the game flow as much as possible, but I will pull...

    Euro 2016

So all the groups have two qualifying out of 6 teams, unless you are in France's group, where two qualify from four? So, get into France's group and there's a 50/50 chance of going through, 1/3 if you are anywhere else. Seems fair to me - in a French, Platini kind of way.

    Euro 2016

but doesn't that make it a bit easier on the rest of the group? Fance don;t really have to try and win - not that I'm suggesting the French would do make it easier for some over others (Eurovision voting?)- but, unless there is one extra team in the group, then it's a little unfair to the other...

Which way were you playing again?

Years ago when I was at school, I have seen a penalty given for offside!

I love symantics! Don't know what the Law is for Futsal, but the LOTG say there has to be a deliberate movement of the hand to the ball. Which to me is very different to deliberately handling the ball. Last weekend, watching Wellington Pheonix, they are defending in their own penalty area, a...

    Open Age "Because he's biased"

Simple really: 'Cheat' means willfully breaking the LOTG to give one side an advantage. 'Biased' means being more lenient with one side over another. So, cheating would be allowing one team to kick their opponents, or disallowing ay goal one team scores for no reason, but knowing you are doing...

Nope, I've got pretty good at avoiding any results until I have watched it on MySky!

Yup, I would probably have given yellow as well. Like Mr Prescott says, add an F word in the sentence and he's walking.
