I always ask the CAR to flag for offside, I ask them to make sure player is active, not to change their mind and to not be offended if I overturn them (once had a CAR run on the pitch saying "you said flag for offside!!" when the ball had rolled out for a G/K and attacker never moved for it....)...

Agree with that, it's all about doing games and getting experienced. You're doing the right thing by analysing each game and learning.

I was there, definitely offside. He's down on the ground in an offside position when cross comes in. Ref managed ok 1st half but did not give Barnes a YC for a clear foul on Ipswich goalie and in 2nd half was exactly the opposite of a "homer" ref!

Reading that IFAB bit reminded me of the games I had on a local school pitch. Beautifully lined but one penalty area was 18 yds but the other only 15 yds.! Cue coach saying "it's same for both sides" Yeah right. Said game would not go ahead unless he lined it properly, which he did albeit in blue

I had this today, penalty kick. Pitch is wet and slippy, as attacker runs up and about to kick ball my eyes move to look at keeper to make sure he doesn't come off his line. Attacker slips as he kicks ball but scores. Cue defenders saying he hit ball twice. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't...
