    Junior/Youth keeper handball / crying

There is also zero development for any referee at u7 level. Nothing happens and if anything you're going to develop bad habits. I've never done kids footy apart from a few games this season as I've moved to a place with no step 5/6 football, but if I would've started at 14 then I'd expect to...

But that raises another point which must be answered. If you disagree with me (obviously no issue with that) then how do you suggest we spread the referee resource to enable u7 matches to have a qualified official?

    Junior/Youth keeper handball / crying

Not at all Chris. There is absolutely no need for a qualified referee to be appointed to u7s football. There's a huge shortage of referees in the UK and those that are available need to be assigned games at the older levels where more issues arise.

    Junior/Youth keeper handball / crying

You're there to referee the game, you are not there to educate players. That is the job of thr coaches. At u7 kids have no idea what a promising attack is and the game is a friendly. There is no need for a referee at that age & I'd argue that having one just formalises the game, when really what...

    BRE LIV

Okk massively on board with the high bar for overturning decisions. When VAR first came on there were far too many penalties. But the Robertson one is a C&O error, no doubt at all in my mind. It couldn't be more of a foul & a reckless one at that. The City handball incident looks to be an error...

FIFA referees Claus and Abatti failed CONMEBOL fitness test

I did 2 cooper tests and people failed. Most failed due to an 'injury' during the test (which in most occasions it was clear during the test that they were way behind the required pace before they became 'injured'.) None of them accepted the fact that it was because they weren't fit enough. My...

FIFA referees Claus and Abatti failed CONMEBOL fitness test

For the level of football level 4s will be refereeing, failing the new fitness test has to be a severe wake up call for any referee that they're miles away from where they need to be. Also, by definition one of the reasons people are at level 4 is the possibility of becoming a 3, and if they're...

FIFA referees Claus and Abatti failed CONMEBOL fitness test

Let's be truthful about the level 4 fitness test, it's an absolute breeze. I've witnessed a number of people who aren't remotely close to being fit (I'm being very kind here) pass the test & I know of 2 referees who have continued at 4 because they have changed the test (they knew they had no...

    Teams not turned up

My experience on the whole has been the opposite. Most leagues are very good. I did alot of inner city Sunday League stuff when I started out (played in then for a long time previously too) so there's more nonsense to deal with than other leagues in my experience. Had one particularly odious...

    Teams not turned up

Because he's immediately come out and paid you I think you should be satisfied with the outcome. Very frustrating for the extra wait between games, but that can't be taken into consideration from his side of things. As already stated, it should be reported to the league once you've done that...

    Vanishing spray

Sounds right to me, but what about the Vase? To be clear, I have no problem with the use of it, the question is more around whether it's now allowed in the competition rules?

    Vanishing spray

Searching through this site, it appears that it must have been here that I learnt about vanishing spray not being used in FA competitions. This source was helpfully provided by @JamesL In 2020 and clearly states that spray is only to be used in the PL, JPL & FA Cup. Perhaps there's been an...

    Vanishing spray

This was quite a lively game with plenty of dissent and the sin bin was correctly used. It stemmed from a penalty decision which the referee looks to have got wrong but that's football and a different matter. But footballers don't care what level the ref is, they just want to win. I understand...

Is vanishing spray permitted I the FA Vase? I didn't think it was but I saw it in use yesterday so presumably it is?

Wiltshire does seem yo be rather off grid football wise. I did enjoy my games at Royal Wooton Basset last year though.

    Appointment Precedence

I thought it worked pretty well last year. All my County Cup games were on there, including Senior Challenge Trophy etc. But yes I imagine it would've been a challenge getting alot of refs to use it. You also had to have proof of DBS etc and that's an added pain. I moved away in the summer so I...
