Translation of L11 deflection/deliberate play please?!

I never use the word reset. Blue 1 kicks the ball and Red 2 heads the ball poorly and it goes to Blue 3 who was is in an offside position. Blue 3 is in an offside position. It doesn't reset if the player is still in an offside position. It's just not an infringement. The ball was last...

    Farcical conditions

Windy games give you a chance to see Goal Kicks and Corner Kicks going into the wrong net. What an opportunity to show our LOTG knowledge!

    Hypothetically Speaking...

A GK can use their hands on a passback when the GK clearly kicks or tries to kick the ball into play. This shows no intention to handle the ball so, if the clearance attempt is unsuccessful , the GK can then handle the ball without committing an offense.

Where in the Laws Does It Say About

Most keepers I've seen will kick it for a goal. <Sheepishly bows head> I didn't know a keeper can't score a goal throwing it 100yds into the opposing goal. Um.....

    Injury Time in Junior Football

Ball kicked when ball in play. Yes, throw-ins. When doing tournaments and high school ball, I want lots of balls when I cant add time. Saves from this issue.

    Player pushed by fan

YC. Shows a lack of respect for the game-unsporting behavior. YC. Cautionable offense-leaving the field of play without permission. This is when the player did not leave the field under normal play, but leaves to go after an outside agent. It's off the field, involving outside agent, violent...

A 48 year old new ref!

Be honest with other referees. I was teamed up with much younger referees, even though I was new, too. I told them I was as green as they were. When I was their AR, and a teenager was the Center, let then do their job. The hardest part of being 25- 30 years older was remembering they took...

    One bit of advice

Hmmm. Which call you make is the most important? The first one. You're human. Nobody believes it on the pitch, but it's true. They probably think that because no human would be a referee. Referees don't make mistakes. Ever. It never happens. We just rehash the good ole days here...

    Injury Time in Junior Football

As a referee for different organizations, it's a must to get their modifications with 48hrs of game day. My games are always LOTG, except as modified. Tournaments and school games are the first ones that come to mind about no added time. As for time wasting, I can issue cards. One usually...

    U13 - Penalty Decision

It does if you're dating, but I've been married a long time. Courting must have changed.

    Phantom goal

I've had the ball through a hole in the side of the net. I've learned to either have the net's holes closed or warn both coaches at the start abd put it in my game report. Sidebar: Nets aren't required, only the frame (between the posts and under the bar), but it makes things easier.

    Penalty Kick Advantage?

The ball is in play when it is kicked and clearly moves. If, before the ball is in play, one of the following occurs: The goalkeeper or a teammate offends, ball goes in: goal. Doesn't: retaken. Advantage: allows play to continue. The law says a goal stands on an infringement, but there's no...

At what age group should you introduce cards

Agreed. For my game report, sometimes I have to note and confirm I warned prior to calling an infringement. Example: the keeper is holding the ball beyond the 6 seconds. Why is a warning required but I've seen it as an issue in the highest levels of play? I remember the women's game's...

    U13 - Penalty Decision

Doubtful, trivial, careless, reckless, and SFP. The description appears its trivial vs careless. Careless will be a PK. Holding? Well, doubtful, trivial, not trivial. Well, if not trivial, PK. If it was trivial, possibly persistent infringement. If it was trivial, the offensive player may...

At what age group should you introduce cards

I have an extra pair of cards in my right shirt pocket. It's where I write quick notes to myself compared to the cards in pockets or my left shirt pocket. If I want to warn, I pull out my right side book. The yellow card is right there, in the slot, but I'm just making note of the warning. I...

    halftime fluid

Water, certain gatorades, and chocolate milk. They sell chocolate milk that doesnt need refrigeration I prefer it first. I also pack 2 kiwis for every game.

    Aston Villa v West Ham

I agree with your assessment. When I'm asked about giving cards, I prefer to say they earned the cards.

    Sub Woe

I have had it happen, but my games have never used a board. I'm afraid my subs are word of mouth, yelled across the field, and I have unlimited subs in my games of u6 through u19 and middle/high school. So, a mistake is just followed by another sub request on the next opportunity. I guess...

    Aston Villa v West Ham

It was the assessor that warned me of the loss of scholarship and the fact I knocked a star player out of the next playoff game for accumulated YCs. That's why I don't accept certain games and I let my assigner knows this. While my other assigner will give me games, knowing this, and let's...

    Time Wasting

I have officiated games that are back-to-back-to-back all day long, usually starting Friday night, all day Saturday, and on into Sunday. Tournaments. 2-3 Friday, 5-6 on Sat, and 3-4 plus playoffs on Sun. Games are an hour for 13-18 year olds. No added time to halves except for major...
