    Criteria once Promoted

Cool thanks. I am up for the challenge and the commitment and am not looking to do as little as possible whilst at Level 4, o fully understand that it is a commitment and this is what I am trying to weigh up. I currently do very few midweek but I do still get in 25-30 games a season at county...

    Criteria once Promoted

Thank you. So let’s say, I only referee 15 games in the season and close all midweek games, I stand a risk of being demoted back to 5?

    Criteria once Promoted

Hi all I know there has been multiple posts regarding the criteria for promotion etc.. What I am asking here, in order to decide if I can commit to the next level is, What is the Criteria when you reach level 4 in order to remain at level 4? I currently referee mainly at County Level, with...

RKC v PEC offside from corner

Appreciate this isn’t the case here as they have comms, however.. applying this to the majority of forum users. Let’s say you are a less experienced AR L5/6 at a step 5 game and the referee and other AR make this call. At what point would you (standing on the touchline on the half way line...

    Brighton vs Southampton

there is a clear action to play the ball in the flick. Did it interfere with the goalkeeper? I think this is subjective. The goalkeeper does move both feet slightly as the attempted flick happens and therefore is technically repositioned and probably wouldn’t have been if that attempted flick...

Awful, sorry to hear. Hope your recover is speedy. I have bought some insoles and they have worked wonders.

    Taking a break

Give yourself more breaks. I am an Assistant Headteacher and I referee at the weekend but I only do Saturdays. Rarely will I do Sundays and rarely will I do weekdays. However, this week I am doing Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday, due to county appointments! If I have something on or a busy week...

    Net interfering with GK

Yes I noticed this bit and do agree. I just wonder that it doesn’t soecifically say what to do if this is not the case but I assume based on a safety issue as with any safety issue play would be stopped and re-started with a dropped ball.

    Net interfering with GK

What would people do here if they rebound goes in? Award goal? Cant see anything in the laws that specifies this situation apart from the goal needs to be secure and not interfere with the goalkeeper.

    Achilles Tendonitis

Exactly the same symptoms. I have played football for over 20 years and never had pain like it so I haven’t put it down to old age! Must be boots or surface with more 3Gs around. I also have it in both ankles so find it hard to believe it’s my body and not boot / ground related I personally...

Junior/Youth So what is the right age to give Reds?

I have refereed youth football for about 10 years and I have never sent a player off for 2 yellows….

Junior/Youth So what is the right age to give Reds?

I would possibly consider doing this at development football, not that I have ever reached this stage in a young age group game. I wouldn’t at age u13 in my opinion.

    Goalkeeper drop kick

What are people’s pre match instructions in relation to this? I have had a few ‘I don’t care if he is on the half way line holding it do not flag it’ before.

Junior/Youth So what is the right age to give Reds?

Another point.. I wouldn’t be asking the coach much of his opinion, could come across like you don’t really know what you are doing. Stick to your guns, if they break the rules they break the rules, it’s the only way they are going to learn.

Junior/Youth So what is the right age to give Reds?

Difficult ones to manage. With my teacher hat on .. Under 13s very much know right from wrong at this age and a red card needs to be used in certain situations. One thing I will say.. try to manage situations in the game according to the game. This obviously comes with experience. Take your...
