    Whistle Recommendations

Yeah, it's what I've done with two Fox 40s, and I did try it with my Valkeen for a while but I found that the length wasn't exactly right and I still ended up semi-covering a hole when I blew.

    Rare occurrence!!

First of all, that's an extraordinary letter that should be shared as widely as possible. The author of it should be praised highly. Second of all, don't forget that for a technical official, entering the field of play, even after the game or at half time, to remonstrate with the referee is a...

Utah’s zero-tolerance policy regarding referee abuse

Sounds like a great summer job for college kids to me. You can probably get state funding to pay them, and they perform other duties for the association throughout the day.

    Whistle Recommendations

After having used the finger grip for a little over 2 years, I don't know what I'd do without it. I can't imagine using a wrist lanyard and I wouldn't want to go back to holding the whistle just in my hand because I'd often end up half covering a hole and making an ungodly sound when I blow...

    Macron kit

I've seen one in person. The quality is extremely good -- it is very slim cut, so consider that when sizing; but the price is also very high. Is it so significantly good quality that it is actually worth the price? Not in my opinion. I think you're paying, mostly, a premium for wearing the same...

Utah’s zero-tolerance policy regarding referee abuse

No, the referee's responsibility is the match; the field marshal is responsible for ensuring that spectators behave appropriately.

Utah’s zero-tolerance policy regarding referee abuse

Oh, and invest heavily in referee development programmes so that match officials get better.

Utah’s zero-tolerance policy regarding referee abuse

Ban people who behave badly. Appoint a neutral field marshal at every field to police spectator behaviour.

Utah’s zero-tolerance policy regarding referee abuse

It removes the responsibility from the association to protect referees and foists it on amateur parents.

Utah’s zero-tolerance policy regarding referee abuse

I find this policy a little bit ridiculous. As a parent, if you told me that I could no longer watch my son or daughter play football because one of their teammates' parents shouted mean things at a referee, I'm not sure how happy or reasonable I would be about that. Ban the guilty party; ban...

Laws of the Game Test 6-5

Congratulations. Video analysis questions are more difficult, since multiple answers can be technically correct. What it tests is not so much your Laws of the Game knowledge, but whether you think the way that the association wants you to think about incidents. Ummm... ok? Nobody is making you...

    Sporting Lisbon x Gil Vicente

You're not calling it as foul contact when a player arrives late and clatters his opponent after the ball is played away?

    Sporting Lisbon x Gil Vicente

Does someone have to have control of the ball to be fouled?

    22/23 changes

Literally everything is meant to be explained; that's why there are observers, coaches, and instructors. I don't see why you have this massive chip on your shoulder, but it really does impact on how people view your contributions.

    City vs Real

@ChasObserverRefDeveloper is this a new FA recommendation?

    Sonik Blast is LOUD

    Buzzer flags.

Fair enough. As I said, I've never used them. I suppose the onus would then be on the referee who brought them to add to his pregame instructions that the button is very sensitive and not to keep their fingers on the button.

    Buzzer flags.

To answer the OP, Ervocoms are the gold standard, Signalbip is widely considered a good version and I have no knowledge of the Refstech ones, but RefSix just did a video on them. They also did a three-way comparison video:

    Sonik Blast is LOUD

It isn't necessary for any level. But it is very nice. I used the Sonic Blast for a year or so and never got into using it. I found the way it felt when blowing it was strange and not enjoyable.

    Body Cameras on refs

Notwithstanding the privacy issues, I think the point of the camera is not so much to prevent physical attacks as it is to, as you have written, have video evidence of any bad behaviour. Furthermore, it would allow an observer or association to see an event from the referee's POV when something...
