Had my first 6 to 5 observation this Sunday in a game I could of refereed from the car. 10 fouls in total all game. No incidents at all of any note. Standard expected though so ticks a box.
@QuaverRef how did your observation go?
I disagree that constitutes a DOGSO. I would suggest the hand stops a promising goal scoring opportunity (YC) but at that distance from goal where the handball was not a deliberate act with the keeper still to beat, I would not be considering that as an obvious goal scoring opportunity.
There was a great photo on facebook a few weeks ago of a young referee showing a girl (couldnt of been older than U10's) how to take a throw in correctly. His approach was applauded by everyone. I see no health and safety risk or child protection risk there at all. Older they go yes, it changes...
Unfortunately havent got a picture but I turned up to a pitch recently with a new groundsman. The goal posts at one end were 1 yard infront of the goal line!!! 🙄
I am also going for promotion Level 7 to 6 and notices the same. I have had 2 pre-lim round Womens FA Cup games as AR, 2 sunday county cup games as ref and a 2 saturday county cup game as AR. Also been given better standard games in higher divisions on the 3 leagues I ref in. Good to be noticed...
I believe you could give an IDFK for endangering safety of a player if the push was deliberate and it did endanger his team mate. Cant give a DFK as its not a foul against the opposition and its not VC.
I disagree with your argument surrounding dissent vs delaying the restart. The sanctions are different. That is a good system to be used for other infringements (red vs yellow offence, IDFK vs DFK, etc.) but to say 2 offences occur at the same time here isnt right. One offence occurs and its...
I completely agree. Time wasting is when its done just to slow a restart. If a player kicks the ball away in anger thats dissent. Previously these have carried the same punishment though. It makes it a much harder sell now one is just a yellow whilst the other is a sin bin. Say you sin bin a...
The RA is a great place to get advice and learn from more mature referees. I am going for promotion this year having their advice and support has helped and it has been noted throughout my observations that advice was being taken onboard.
Im sure your experience is a mixture of players being...
Well my weekend consisted on a day out in Derby which was very much an enjoyable one!
Today back to OA Sunday league. Home team lost 4-1 but it was the away team causing trouble. Their manager acting as CAR entered the pitch to have a go after the first time i overruled him (a throw in on the...
This is what I thought! I doubted myself because it was an observer advising me. It was just an off the cuff question. No particular incident just asking what I would do in a certain situation which led to him saying managers should see the red card now.
I have had a discussion with someone who advised me the law had changed with regards to dismissals of managers/coaches from the technical area. He said the correct procedure is now to show a red card and send them away. I know yellow/red cards for managers are introduced in the EFL but not the...
Im still in my youth (just about) but have been to see a physio regarding my ankles, calfs and achilles. The advise was when it hurts rest, when its better strengthen, then when its strong run. Luckily I did most of that process over the summer.
Strengthening included various types of squats...
My county states the minimum is three, but they carry out four which allows more chance of getting some development points and incase you have a bad game in your first three, your fourth can help you in your chase for promotion.
I think my big issue was I didnt adapt to the game. As I mentioned, I have had a pretty good run all season where talking and communication with players has worked and a few bookings for dissent on the way. I think I may of got complacent and set in a way where I presume the same response from...
Was very good to be able to talk through the issues at the end and get the constructive feedback. That would of been a game I mulled over for a while had I not of had that support. Still thinking a bit now. Definitely one where I cant wait for Sunday to get out there again and move on. Tough...
