Could it be argued from a players perspective there was good reason to do it, therefore its not a red? This is definitely not black and white. I can see both sides and a very tough decision it would be in real time.
Interesting comparison... never thought of that before and didnt think it would make a difference but can see what you mean now. Lets see if that helps this weekend!
Promotion chase update!!! So yesterday was my 3rd observation of the promotion season. Was my first county cup allocation. Ended as a fairly simple game to ref. 10 fouls in total and score ended 11-2. No cards or any major incidents.
The easy match meant I concentrated a lot more on my...
The home team in my match admitted they entered the wrong county cup! They ended up playing a much better quality team in a cup they had no chance in. They lost but it wasn't for a lack of trying. They even scored in the very last minute through just closimg down the keeper. Lots of goals. Some...
Had a county cup game today too and was being observed as I am going for promotion. Easy game really. 10 fouls in total. No cards. Away team won easily. Plenty of goals. Handshakes all round at the end. And even a compliment on my positioning and sprints from the observer (something previously...
Wording is key...
making an obvious action which clearly impacts on the ability of an opponent to play the ball
An attacker closing the ball quickly and getting with a few yards as mentioned in the example. Even if he then throws his hands up and doesnt touch ball or defender his carried out...
I would say depending on the scenario you could class the movement to the ball as interference. If the defender has had to clear the ball quickly because the player in an offside position has closed him down even with no intentions of touching the ball, I would say his significantly interfered...
If there was another player also close to the ball who was in an onside position who takes the ball, as long as the player im the offside position doesnt interfere with an opponent, I would say onside and this being why they introduced the late flag.
If he is only going towards the ball to...
In this situation it would be a yellow for 1st dissent and yellow for 2nd dissent. 20 minutes in the sin bin. After that time, the player cannot return but can be substituted if not all subs have been used. Or you could just upgrade to OFFINABUS depending on words or gestures used.....
Sounds like things many people go with. From my experience, heres my advice:
1. Did you go over to the touch line to manage the sub? If you are going to domit properly you have to be at the touchline. Even doing a jewelry and studs check if your by the boot. At low level games becareful booking...
Opinions appreciated... what was everyones verdict on the James Chester penalty and red card?
1. Was it a penalty?
2. If so, what punishment would you of given? (Penalty only / yellow / red)
Seen many mixed views on other forums.
I understand about looking professional and believe its right to do so. Maybe more so at the higher levels but image does help! I trust a guy who looks like he knows what his doing more than someone who looks clueless. Depends what players / managers expect I guess. I got away with it as it was...
I received an email from the ref prior to both games confirming teams, location and time to arrive. That was all the details I had. As for tops in these rounds with lower level officials, we have to wear black. I understand at higher levels this can change though so this information would be...
Thank you all for the advice. Definitely something I will know for next time. Both games went well and I enjoyed the higher level and thought overall I did a good job! Both referees seemed happy by my performance. I was just caught out by the other bits outside of normal routine I am used to for...
