Thanks all for the advice and comments. I wouldnt typically position myself there but as there was no CAR at that end to help me I thought it was best. Possibly because I positioned myself differently at the end where a CAR was in place is why it was picked up more. Ohwel its all great advice...
Well one example was a corner at the end with no CAR in place on the corner in line with the CAR at the other end of the pitch. Some advice I was given before by a random referee who was watching one of my games was the biggest decision is goal/no goal so stood behind the back post on the line...
I had my first observation today on the hunt for promotion to level 6. Match went well despite the home team not being able to provide a CAR. He said I was exactly what he expects from a first observation.
Positives were I showed very good signalling and communication with players. Game...
I had an example of this recently. One team had 10 players. The home team had a full squad. The home team were allowed to use their CAR and it was understood by the away team that its them who caused any disadvantage. They accepted it. I made one offside decision all game which they didnt agree...
I am being assess for promotion for the first time this year. I have been told specifically it is expected I check all players for jewelry and boots and shin pads before the match with advise to get them to line up as the easiest way. Before the match, tell both teams substitutions will be done...
Scenario 1: probably a caution as long as OFFINABUS doesnt come into it. A very strong talking to and a reminder of whos in charge to go with it.
Scenario 2: red card. Happened to Bacuna in a Championship match last season. He didn't agree with a throw in decision. Went to confront the linesman...
I went to my first RA meeting. Was very interesting. Lots of different points of view on different issues. All friendly and a great place to talk and meet other refs. Only disappointment was the lack of young referees! They are trying to advertise themselves (maybe in the wrong way) but with...
SFA to English FA should be pretty simple. i moved this season from the Welsh to English FA. I had to get agreement from my current FA stating my grade, DOB and a few other details. This had to be sent to the county FA I have moved to. I advise you speak to the Referee rep at the county FA you...
I had a chat to a member of my local RA recently and he said to come along and see. He was an older ref with lots of experience. My first RA meeting is tomorrow. Looking forward to it (and the excuse for cheeky midweek pint). Will be good as a newish ref to get advise on how to improve. Im...
Thats an interesting observation. I understand in difficult matches with a lot of incidents you have to be vocal and assertive. With a quieter match I would of said let the whistle do the talking - although a more experienced referee may argue differently.
I am also interested to see what...
I think your decision making was correct and sympathise with the situation with the spectator/coach.
I had an incident a few weeks ago where a spectator entered the FoP and was also questioning my decision. The foul occurred near the touchline. 2 players and the spectator surrounded me...
I was taught one of the first and biggest decisions from a corner will be ball in or out of play or goal/no goal. This isn't to say fouls and pushing should not be looked for.
The advise I was given was to start at the position you mentioned but don't always go there. If at one corner there...
What you say matches my interpretation. I haven't given a free kick for this in a game because I have never seen a deliberate attempt at distracting a player. I have occasionally heard it said but never interpreted it as anything other than an instruction to another team mate.
I was watching my...
Where do you stand when a player shouts "leave it"?
I have referee'd a few matches recently where a player has shouted to another member of his own team to leave the ball. I see this as giving an instruction and it would only be unsporting behaviour if it is said with the intention of putting...
