    In or Out

Should be a third option of does it matter ☺

My first line and my first taste of OA football.

One of my favourite quotes from my tutors was 'assistants are there to assist not insist'

    Dirty keeper!!

Out of interest what would the restart be? In the clip there appears to be no contact. So would it be dismissal and then IDFK?

    First two matches

One of the leagues I've joined doesn't allow CARs. I'll see how it goes in those matches and may alter my instructions in the future

    First two matches

Something I picked up from the course. I call them in to the centre at the coin toss, ask them if they're comfortable with the offside law and give them instructions in front of the captains so they know what's happening. Always say the final decision is mine so I may not give it if they flag.

    First two matches

Had my first two matches in the middle today. First was an u12s match, CARs and ended 3-3. Nothing much happened in the match, very little fouls. It got a bit scrappy at times but very rarely was anything a bad tackle / careless. Both of the CARs were good and helped with in/out of play and...

    How's the sin bins going?

Why should the time left in a game matter? If a player is stupid enough to get himself sin binned with less than 10 minutes left that his fault.

    Double caution for dissent

But a sin bin + a caution doesn't make a RC so you could argue that it's not a subset of YC offences. Needless to say it's not very clear

    Double caution for dissent

What would the procedure be for something like this where you use sin bins? Could you issue a double sin bin yellow and them allow the player to be replaced after 20 minutes? Or would you only give one sin bin in the hope it calms the player down? Obviously in this match a sin bin would have...

    Paper copy of LOTG

Angel I have a spare copy of this year's LotG, happy to send my spare copy to you if you like in England

    Paper copy of LOTG

I would ask them to send you a link to the direct payment site. They should definitely have included it in the email that they sent through. Unfortunately the link I have is no longer valid as it's generated per order by the looks of it.

    Paper copy of LOTG

This is the email I received from them. I followed the link to the ifab direct payment site Hopefully that'll help

    Paper copy of LOTG

When I ordered mine I got an email on the day asking me to confirm the order. Once I clicked on the link in the first email an invoice was sent through a few days later. On this email was a link to pay for the book. I followed this and paid via PayPal I believe.

defender blocking shot diverts ball to attacker in offside position

If it was a pass straight to him then play on. My thoughts were he's already offside and you could argue the defender may not have attempted to clear if the attacker wasn't in that position. However I guess what you could argue as expected from the LoTG is for the defender to control the...

defender blocking shot diverts ball to attacker in offside position

If a player is an offside position and his team attempts to pass him the ball, a defender attempts to clear the ball but slices it and it goes to the offside attacker. Surely this would still be offside as he's gained an advantage from the original offside? Where as if he was onside originally...

    Quick Free Kicks

Reminds me of this goal that Giggs scored in the champions league and Lille walked off the pitch

    Referees are self-employed

I thought about this too. I don't think you could claim it all but surely you should be able to argue a percentage of the bill. I never actually thought about lunch so that's definitely a good one to remember.

    Referees are self-employed

On the subject of this, what do you guys normally claim as expenses against your income? Obviously there's the cost of the kit, travel, registration, course etc. But talking to my dad who has his own business, he suggested that I could also do this against gym membership, a new laptop (as...

    Penalty procedure query

Law 13: BALL ENTERS THE GOAL if a direct free kick is kicked directly into the opponents’ goal, a goal is awarded if an indirect free kick is kicked directly into the opponents’ goal, a goal kick is awarded if a direct or indirect free kick is kicked directly into the team’s own goal, a...

    Penalty procedure query

Thanks for all the advice. I'm preparing for the course and whilst the laws make sense there are definitely a few scenarios (like the ones mentioned) where it could be cleared up a little. I always laugh at the rule that own goals can't be directly scored from a corner. It must be so unlikely...
