Don't you just hate it when...

Jeez, maybe I need to re-visit my fitness as a new ref thread. I said in there that it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but now you have made me realise why this is so, the keepers couldn't kick.. :D

This took me completely off guard

Thanks Brian, as I say I was completely clueless on what to do. All part of the learning process though. Thanks again.

This took me completely off guard

Hi, as some of you may know I did my first game today. However a strange incident took place that no amount of training/ref courses prepared me for. Home and away player both slide in fairly, home gets the ball, but he then has it between his legs at knee height, then he starts hopping with...

    Fitness as a new ref

I'm pleased to report that I was worrying over nothing. Only time I was puffing was when the ball was hoofed back and forth 4 times in quick succession, but on the whole I had decent stamina and kept up with play well. Mentor said I was fine as well.

    The day of reckoning

It went ok I'm happy to report. Was a quite difficult game to referee as well, home team were quite theatrical at times, but they were dishing it out themselves. Home ended up winning 8-3. 2 cautions, 1 each for handbags after a freekick, no punches thrown so yellow apiece. However the home...

    Bravo in the Manchester Derby

Did he get away with a red card seeing as he is a Keeper? I'm talking about the incident where he lost control of the ball and overrun it then clashed with Rooney with his studs up. I agreed with Clattenberg in real time, but with the benefit of multiple replays I believe it was a penalty...

    First game

I'm happy to hear that you seemed to enjoy your first game Craig, well done. Hopefully my first will be straight forward enough tomorrow. Precisely. I only once in my career failed to seek out the ref for a handshake after my games, and that poor soul did nothing wrong, I just had a bad game...

    The day of reckoning

Thanks for the replies chaps, much appreciated. It's been confirmed that a mentor will be attending the game with me, so that's another reason to feel good about it.

    Fitness as a new ref

Something that has been bothering me recently is my fitness. I have my first game this Sunday and really don't feel my fitness is anywhere it needs to be?? My background is that I was a Goalkeeper throughout my career and as such didn't like running much in training :D So you might well ask...

    The day of reckoning

Hi guys, My first appointment is this Sunday. I was quite looking forward to it until I read this thread: http://www.refchat.co.uk/threads/absolute-disaster.8188/unread Now I'm feeling very nervous if I'm being honest. I can't fault the Ref appointments officer on the league I've been...

    New to refereeing

The safeguarding course for me was at Birmingham County FA in Great Barr. It got over subscribed so I had to make way. As for the first match, I was told by Richard at Birmingham FA that I would get an email last Monday saying what league I am on. I didn't get that email so contacted him and he...

    Hi everybody

At the moment I don't have a problem with not getting middles in MFL, so I'm going to get my 5 games done and see what opens up for me. When you did your ref course with Brum Fa did they get you your 5 games? Reason I ask is they are supposed to be getting mine for me, was supposed to get an...

    Hi everybody

Yeah, that's exactly what I want to do. And of course referee games on a Sunday morning and afternoon. Craig - I contacted Glyn and he said he is swarming with assistant ref's at the moment and also said that I won't be allowed to do it until I have passed the exam after my 5 games anyway.
