Why don't we (or elite refs) just award a foul throw when players march 10 yards down the pitch, then ? Surely, that would be a much better way of stopping the cheating if the top referees did this rather than asking players to move back to the correct spot ?

They don't stay down and request the medical team. They get up and sprint 30 yards in the next phase of play lol

It's a simple solution, that they could have implemented years ago. Bans for players that are caught cheating. Drives me insane !!!

Exactly my point. Why are refs having to decide who kicks off in each quarter of the game ? It should just be 2 halves. If they want an agreed break half way through the half, and to make some subs, then fair enough.

Ex-players naturally go towards the ball. It took me a while to get out of that habit. Head towards it, then back off once you feel your within 15 yards or so (as mentioned). You'll get used to doing this after a while
