    First Game

it was annoying to miss it, but to have been able to see it clearly would have involved being in a pretty weird position, perhaps if the linesman were a bit more interested they would have noticed, but it was only a friendly so no real harm done. What I'm glad about is I didnt just blow up...

    First Game

my first game between two works teams playing an inter squad friendly I missed a handball. the attacker was going towards goal and he took the ball on his chest, the defender cut across him and took the ball. I couldnt see what went on as the attackers body was blocking my view. They did appeal...

Got my first game this Friday

It was really good fun and I did relax into it. I've learnt alot from it and think next time I'm refereeing there be alot less of the first time things to worry about and I'll be able to focus on the positioning a bit more etc. I think one of the biggest surprises is how alert you have to...

Got my first game this Friday

Well it was certainly an eye opener. At no point did I really think about the laws as such, you just kinda go with you you gut reaction to a situation. I was lucky as the game was played in good spirit and I only had a few decisions to make and no tackles flying too aggressively, so no cards...

    First Game

the other half is a teacher, so we are the most boring couple in the world. At the moment I just want to get the 6 games out the way to make it to level 7 but really excited about the ones I do have lined up.

    First Game

I'm level 9 and yet to ref a game, but I've got a question on point 7 (and forgive me if this all sounds a bit money grabbing etc, I would be willing to do the refereeing for free as I see it more of a hobby) what is the general etiquette around the money side of things. When being asked to ref...

Following on from it being my first game Friday, what should be my must haves?

I left a message with the county FA yesterday and will follow up today for a bit more guidance. Although I am now in touch wit ha few local leagues and it looks likely I'll have a game for this weekend as a ref has pulled out with an injury so they might be able to throw me in! The idea of...

Following on from it being my first game Friday, what should be my must haves?

I have also been offered the chance to ref a works team cup game on Friday as well. So it might be worth me going for that one as they did approach me, but I thought the friendly might have been a better introduction into the world of refereeing!!

Following on from it being my first game Friday, what should be my must haves?

hmmm so maybe I should pass it up. Both of the teams are registered with the FA as they play in some London accounting leagues. They have basically have a few friendly games to build up to the start of their season and this is the last one they have. So I guess this isnt going to have been...

Following on from it being my first game Friday, what should be my must haves?

Obviously going to turn up with my boots, kit, cards, whistle etc. Also going to make sure I have a few energy drinks etc. But as a newbie ref what sort of thing will be handy for me to take that I might not have thought of. also as I'm level 9 and need to get my 6 games out of the way. The...

Got my first game this Friday

Thanks andy. I am really looking forward to it, but obviously nervous at the same time. I know both the teams playing and dont think there will be much trouble and it is just a friendly as well, so hoping it'll be all good spirited. I'll give a report back on how it goes at the weekend!
