Interested in the thoughts as to why the shout for a pen wasn't given. Incident is at about the 39 second mark.
Just want to understand the rationale if there was one. FWIW there was a VAR review but the ref stuck with his call. Fair play to him for backing himself.
Refereeing whinge.
Obviously can't stop progress but because of the cheap availability of video software all of the first grade and reserve grade games in the town I'm in are all now recorded by the clubs. Of course that means all match incidents can now be screenshotted or sent as little video...
I can see we're going to agree to disagree. I can't see how anywhere else on the field that wouldn't be foul.
Take that tackle and put it outside the 18 where the player is shooting and then gets wiped out afterwards and tell me that wouldn't be given as a foul.
Trip from a late tackle that missed the ball. Same as anywhere else on the field.
Again, how is that different from a player tapping it past the full back to go bolting down the wing only to be tripped by a the fullback attempting a slide tackle but missing the ball?
If he tapped that past the keeper (to go around him) and was hit like that then it'd be a pen for sure so I don't understand why, just because he's taken a shot, it's not.
Disappointed to read about refs getting surrounded. It doesn't happen so much in the league I do here (in Oz) but I'd hate it to start to become a thing. The sooner the bigger leagues do something about it the better because the peanuts that play in the lower levels think that if it's ok on the...
Not having a go at anyone here because I learn so much from this forum but I'm intrigued as to the logic here.
My test for penalties before I give them is would I give that anywhere else on the field. If yes, then pen. (Because I get annoyed that the tiniest touches anywhere else on the field...
I book every bloke that baulks a player by shouting 'HA' (or something similar) as they're about to take a shot, pass a ball or make a tackle. Stuff 'em. It's cheating and it's not happening on my watch.
Probably dish out these 3 or 4 times a season.
The Burnley bloke that missed his pen did a stuttered run up. Had he scored would that have been pulled up for a retake?

Thanks
Thanks lads.
At the last minute the player that handballs realises he's about to have a collision so puts his hand up to brace for impact. The ball then just glances down and the trajectory is pretty much unchanged. I would have happily let this one go.
