    not my best game

Shef Ref, it must have been something about this Sunday. I'm almost exactly the same as you. 7-6 been going ok (I think) however this Sunday was a mare. Got given my first game in the Prem. Division and learned before hand that both teams have history with each other oh and they are 2nd and...

    Wycombe vs Burton

Anyone see tonights League Two game? Scene: nasty clash of heads, one from each team down ref stops play immediately. Wycombe player is treated for a long time (about 8/9 minutes approx). Wycombe losing 3-1. Restart is a drop ball. Looks like the players can't decide who is going to 'give it...

What do you toss with? (Steady on)

One of any number of various Euro/cent coins I've collected on various trips to the continent. I'm useless and generally lose coins on a weekly basis however the current 20c has done me proud for a few weeks now :)

    Minute silence

Small world. I was in Edinburgh this weekend and went to see my first ever Ice Hockey match. Chap who's phone it was looked in a right fluster trying to get the thing to silence.

    Second Assessment

Decent mark that. Well done. How come though I see so many L7's on here get given assessment marks. Round my way we don't get them, just the report from the assessor. Only thing I see is in section 3 regarding getting between players to diffuse a situation. I got slated in my second...

    Equipment/Pedometer Advice?

Another plug for Garmin. My Forerunner 610 is a brilliant bit of kit.

    County takes priority

Round my way County (cups) take priority. It's made quite clear, big bold type, in all our appointment emails that if we decline the fixture then we cannot referee any other games on that day and if we do, its the headmasters office for a b***ocking. Supposedly they check up too. At least they...

    Fa Youth Cup

Me too. Just about to leave for the short (but battling through the evening rush hour traffic) journey. Really looking forward to it.

    Black Kit and dissent

Hindsight is great. Don't beat yourself up though about the lack of red cards. Only thing I'd say is make sure that you make it 100% crystal clear in your match report to the league (I assume you have to do them) that the team wore black. It must (should) be in the league rulebook that no team...

    Liverpool vs ludgrets

Looks blooming awful. Like the work experience kid at Adidas was told to design it.

    Living from refereeing

West London league (Sundays): £35 middles and £25 on line. No extra for mileage. Looks like a great 'rate' compared to some of you lads.

    First assessment

Yellow flag? Possibly the assessors way of differentiating you and the other AR for his (her) note taking and subsequent report.

Open Age Game Today - Tough

Isn't the 'actual' term "offensive, insulting or abusive" (OFFINABUS)? One could quite possibly take ferkin kant in the insulting category, I know a lot (most) referees would and as such would allow the person saying it to take an early bath.

    Vanarama Conference North/South/Prem

6 points out of 6 for us. Not a bad start considering we only had half a dozen players signed on two weeks ago and had a very poor pre season.

    Vanarama Conference North/South/Prem

I sure do. H&Y in the South is my team

    HRM Watch Recommendations

I'll second the Garmin. I use a Forerunner 610 and it's brilliant. Tad expensive but worth every penny in my book.

Spotters Badge if you get them all first time ...

Wow. That's simply and utterly unacceptable. The red who booted the green while laying on the floor shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a football pitch for a long, long time. Was a tough one for all the officials but they did the best they could in very trying circumstances.

    Hey guys!

Guten tag Paul! You've come to the right place for all things refereeing. Good luck to your lads tonight, hoping for a nice comfortable win for you.

    Vanishing spray

Blooming hell! It's a good idea, but not at that price. One can lasts two games (say). Doing 30 games per season that would make it £47.25 at Ross' cheap price. Or £90 for Padfoots! Ouch.
