    Local Non-League Game

"But I got the ball ref!" It must have been a red surely. Two feet off the ground, not in control, dangerous.

    Mark Halsey

Reffy has got it pretty much spot on. I thought it was a good read (although I didn't enjoy it as much as Poll or Winters books) with some good stories and insights into life as a professional. To me the way he was treated post cancer was disgusting and if what is written true, Riley and others...

    Ridiculous Red Card

As I understand it yes, you can only YC for shirt removal as part of a goal celebration. However, and just throwing this in here, maybe in this case the referee decided the player going off was wasting time by removing his shirt and thus second yellow carded him. Regardless, thats harsh imo.

    Mark Halsey

I'm about half way through it at the moment. I'll let you know when it's finished. However from what I've read so far he seems to have a right 'grudge' against certain individuals.

Do you ALWAYS check your pitch markings?

Helicopter maintenance engineer. On a post check air test and we were at 500ft, honest ;)

Do you ALWAYS check your pitch markings?

Good luck if you get this one at the weekend: Taken this morning while out and about with work. I guess the groundsman had a heavy night before he got the paint out.

so you step onto the field of play

I've started using 1 Euro coins for the toss. Got so many of the bloody things laying around from various European trips and I don't really care if they get lost or fall out of my pocket.

Open Age First game this weekend

Well done and congrats on the first of many games. Sounds like you had a good game only things I'd possibly say (bear in mind I've only been doing this since early this year) are: Head injuries, any time a player is down with any kind head injury I'll stop play. Better safe than sorry. Also re...

Yep you can. In stopwatch mode hold the "Adjust" button for a couple of seconds. Display changes to "TGT" with the number of minutes below. Change the time by using the right side buttons for up/down. When target time is correct press the "Adjust" button again and your alert is set.

That video pretty much sums it up. You'll use it and the functions in a way that suits you best but for the record I have it like this: Left wrist: Stopwatch with the 'alert' set on 45 minutes. Any stoppages yellow button pressed which stops the top timer. Press again when play resumes. On 45...

    Socks

Wore my new Nike kit today for the first time today and afterwards I thought to myself wow, these socks are awesome. They are nicely 'padded' in the right areas and very, very comfortable. So much so I got onto A&H this evening and bought a couple of extra pairs. Slight drift but I think I'm in...

    Villa v Tottenham

Very good to see the AR wasn't hurt and was able to get on with the game plus the authorities at the match appear to have caught the idiot. There was a 'fan' a year ago (Oxford I think) who got banged up for over a year just for possession of a flare at a game. Hopefully the moron who threw...

    Chelsea v Cardiff

Yep thats most certainly a c*ck-up, but these things happen and it goes to show even the best referees and assistants in the country miss things. Most surprising thing of the whole incident was Alan Shearer correctly quoting LotG

    Hoffenheim vs Bayer Leverkusen 18/10

Whoops. Just caught the 'experts' discussing tonights Bundesliga game. It appears that Levekusen have been awarded a goal even though the ball was headed through the side netting. Every refs nightmare and I think there will be more on this over the next few days. I didn't see the game so no...

Course Passed - First Game this Weekend!

Good luck Luke, they say you'll never forget your first game (I haven't, although to be fair it was only in February!). Relax, enjoy it and put into practice what you've learnt from the course. You'll develop a style that suits you and away you go. Let us know how you get on.

    Watches

Amazon have the RFT-100 for only £30 at the moment. Saw it and although I already use one, I've bought a second for spare/second wrist. I think its a great bit of kit and I can't justify £100+ for the Spintso at the moment.

    England v Poland

I thought it might be loo related at the end of the first half but then to do it again at FT....too much Lucozade possibly. Yes its gone from sad to weird. I'll get my coat and be out of here :)

    England v Poland

Very good ref I thought. I was at Wembley and one thing I noticed (call me sad) but the bench side AR at both HT and FT ran straight off and towards the tunnel. He didn't join the referee and other assistant on the pitch as you usually see. Wonder why that was?

Probably the funniest thing to happen during a Sunday league match?

What a brilliant comeuppance. Take that matey!
