Hi all, I have the Nike kit, always have, but the shorts are hideously long for such an outrageously short ref!
Does anyone use any other brands or styles that still have at least the two side pockets and look the part but are a bit shorter?
Hi Jack,
I had this the other week, just said generating and even a duplicate saying no discipline report! I emailed my CFA's discipline department and they said it had gone through their end. I emailed them with the details of cautions too and asked them to submit if it hadn't.
Seen that, weird angle they've took whichever league it is! Shameful.
My usual Saturday league has two games out of twelve with no appointed referee, and that is with dragging in two referees that don't usually officiate unless desperate. In the league I play in on Sunday there are FOUR...
Sometimes, if I've made an obvious error on the goal kick/corner situation, I'll look over at the CAR, and shout "what? goal kick? thanks lino" and give them a thumbs up... even though they're looking at me blank. I've never been questioned about it yet! :D
Yeah I get what you mean. There's a grey area of players/refs between 16-18 that I imagine will get addressed soon hopefully.
For instance, the 16 year old 4th official in my team will have to get changed in a separate room, whereas a 16 year old playing for one of the teams doesn't have to...
In a league I officiate in (same County as yourself) the home club had to pick the ref up on the way to the match as he is 17 and doesn't drive! Had a good game by all accounts. I think over 16 and you're fine for OA. I have an OA game tomorrow and my 4th is 16.
Thanks for that, great response. The touch slowed it down, so the attacker had to backtrack slightly, but I as the pitch was wet the ball could've possibly skidded out of play - I'll never know unfortunately.
Hi all, just looking for a discussion on a match incident from the weekend.
Lofted through ball, going to the left winger near the corner/wing (so definitely not DOGSO) and the CB deliberately tried to stop the ball with his hand. The ball hit his arm but carried on to the winger, so I played...
Ball in or out of play, as long as the player enters when you tell them to.
Changes a little for GK - he comes on as an outfield player if he comes on when the ball is in play, then changes back to GK in a stoppage (and informs the ref first!)
Bit strong that. I'd have a second word to move it back. If they did it again I'd tell them that once more and its a caution. But this all depends on why they're doing it - if it is to time waste, I'd give them one less warning and quick caution.
At the level where there are no NARs, the players and such can usually hear whats happening. I do a quick double blast of the whistle to stop play, signal the player to come on by either doing the rotating finger signal (sounds sexier than it is) or just shout 'yes please'. You *should* go over...
I don't think you need advice. Sometimes you need to make a mistake, learn from it and never make it again! For me, I add it to the 'list of things to consider' in my head when there's a penalty.
As a general rule of thumb, non-contact offences are IDFKs (there are some exceptions though)... As for the follow-up question, if contact has been made, the offence is still a verbal offence; unless you stop play for a foul and THEN OFFINABUS happens.
Basically - if you are stopping play for...
