    Utd v Chelsea

Peter Walton. It cut to him last Saturday and he was eating a Cornetto :D:D:D

    Run Tracker whilst refereeing

I use Apple Watch with Strava. I did have a Garmin Forerunner 235 which was ok as a starter, but the Apple Watch is so much better and you can use Refsix on it too (I don't, but you can).

    Run Tracker whilst refereeing

If you use Strava, just before you kick off set your watch to 'run' then walk round the pitch. That will show you where you have run, and you can do a mini pitch inspection ;)

    First middle with neutrals

Have a look in the 'Resources' section, there's one or two in there. Good luck for the game

    Player name thread

Firstly apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, I seen some anecdotes mixed in to other threads but no specific thread. So the other weekend I had this... Me: What's your Captain's name? Manager: Oh, it's Ossian (pronounced 'Ocean') Me: Ok... what number is he? Manager: .... Ossian's...

    First game as 4th

Also, ask where the ref wants players warming up - refs normally want them to not warm up behind the AR, so be vigilant with that. Another point to note is not to kick balls onto the FOP if/when needed, simply throw one to a nearby player. Ensure subs are done at the half way line and only after...

    Boots

Yep, just got one. Prefer to fully clean and wax them though. Sometimes my hands are freezing too after a game so I'm not messing around with that :)

    6 a side leagues

I've just started an indoor 4 a side league as the only ref. Terrible decision, can't stand it now, definitely not worth the extra money. It's fast paced, but I don't move from the side, so no fitness involved (which is one of the main reasons I referee). The 'laws' are modified and therefore...

    Boots

Now we're talking! I have an absolute boot fetish, think I have close to ten pairs at the minute - plus I get through five games some weekends so I don't have the chance to wash and dry them between games.. Best I have at the minute are Adidas Copa LINK (not exact ones I have as doubt can get...

    2018 Nike Kit

I found the shirts the same size. Shorts were definitely too long, I have gone from a 2016 Large to a 2018 Medium, so definitely do the same.

    First assessment

With regards to the CARs, when getting observed (and often when I'm not) I get the names of the CARs and say 'thank you *name*' when they've given me an offside flag - it gives the observer an easy tick in the box for 'working as a team' or whatever the criteria says. I've had four observations...

    Good quality flags

Hi msportstars, I often buy the cheap ones off eBay or a dedicated ref website, they usually last half a season. The flags you're talking about are no longer made, which is why maybe the more 'experienced' refs have them. The next best thing in my opinion are Touchline flags LINK. These are...

    Bag Recommendation Needed

Sounds too simple, but the Nike Hardcase in Large is decent! Just about fits the flags in, and as I'm sure you know the rest of the bag is a great design.

    Unsure of sanction...

Scenario: OA mens game. A gobby, erratic, wind-up merchant who never fails to get a caution every game as a minimum is marking a player at a throw in, constantly talking and attempting to get in the players head... all of a sudden he kisses the opponent on the mouth! What on earth do you give...
