    Memory and Awareness

That’s a good tip ask the captain. I have gambled on a couple of occasions, loudly asking “Yes please”, beckoning with your hand, at a group of players which hopefully includes the guilty player! Worked twice so far, but could go wrong

Open Age Genuinely not sure what I'm doing wrong (or is it just me??)

Keep going, you’re self reflecting, improving, try different approaches, asking for advice well done. Just some games are a pain, Collina or Oliver would have exactly the same issues! Have you a refereeing colleague who can come & watch one of your games? Are you a member at your local RA for...

    LIV v MCI

Noting it would have been a second yellow for Haaland. (Why take your shirt off?!?!)

    LIV v MCI

The referee & VAR had to disallow the goal & show red. Two fouls can’t cancel each other out. The referee will get it in the neck but it’s two bad decisions by Allison, give away a needless penalty & then leave the goal unattended in open play?!?!?

    Luton v Swindon Sub error

That was the point 4th official allowed player 23 on to the pitch when he wasn’t on the team sheet as a sub. The difference in Elite football is the subs will have their own squad number.

    Luton v Swindon Sub error

No real surprise, two ineligible players, Swindon thrown out of Vertu Cup. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c20grxdnr0eo I’m still intrigued if the 4th Official is culpable in letting a non-named sub on to the field?

    Open Age A difficult weekend

I do think we should think about some of our posts, in that they don’t come across as rebukes, the poster is acknowledging errors & asking for help & advice. Otherwise we will eventually have no referees willing to post their experiences.

    City v Wolves

We have to remember a players arms need to be somewhere. Is Man C player making his body unnaturally bigger or extending his arm for balance the same way the Wolves player is?
  9. D

    City v Wolves

I see arms out like this is natural, twisting/ changing direction at speed you do use your arms. Interesting the BBC Poll is 90% for No penalty so must confirm it is not a clear an obvious error.

    Palace v Chelsea

I think this highlights how IFAB law makers/interpretation has made determining hand ball so difficult. Our elite referees are confused, no hope for grass roots referees or non-referee stake holders. If its deliberate hand ball it’s a penalty/red card if its non-deliberate then no penalty/no...

    City v Wolves

Football has got itself in a bit of a mess, likely a penalty in Europe & Scotland but not in EPL. If the defender has his hands down by his side, that would be an unnatural position.🙈 What will the World Cup referees view be of a ball hitting an arm in the penalty area?

    BRA v NFO

Probably thought as in the EPL you can’t be sent off for OFFINABUS, does it apply? Anyone recall the last OFFINABUS for a player in the EPL? Arnie Slot was sent off by MO after the final whistle last season.

    EFL referee appointments

Been operating in the National League & FA Cup matches since last selected for a League 2 appointment.

    EFL referee appointments

I agree, a strange appointment, there are many other matches, why put a young referee under pressure before a ball is kicked?

    Livingstone v St Mirren

Another manager creating a headline on VAR intervention, but really, a standard corner, two penalty & a defensive free kick offences, both sets of players want to attack & defend like this so get on with it. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/live/cdjne20k3dkt...

    Brighton v Bournemouth Penalty

Is this clear & obvious for VAR intervention? Contact on the thigh. Surprised me, BBC poll, 84% voted not a penalty. https://youtube.com/clip/Ugkxn7ibF8eCAQtLB5LWYdAItqlXcWc0_iS9?si=7f3QcrInj4kTpfsQ

    2026 Potential Law Changes

Referee body cams have now been trialled since Jan 2021. Exactly 5 years! Could we please have the option to use one in grass roots football?!?!?

    AFCON Final

If the walk off was bad. You couldn’t make this up! The GK towel shenanigans are incredible, the referee obviously unaware of the unsporting behaviour or chose to ignore it. He should have been aware as they did the same in the semi final. Sub GK behind the goal, men in suits, fighting with...

    Arrested for an elbow/assault

Unusual but you can see it’s serious enough for Police to be involved. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/ce3kxzzny4do

    Forest v Arsenal handball

thoughts? For me accidental as he was pushed by his own player, hands were out for balance. Seen them given. https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxkaPEJj5kLsfdtxlSgurYkkEj5xfEhVIb?si=-pmWmJuhY-Th4GHB
