    Everton v Liverpool

Likewise, not a supporter of either team, I watched the extended replay on TNT this afternoon, I thought MO refereed well, one mistake for free kick for Everton first goal. IMHO, not a foul for the Everton equaliser, notice Konate didn’t complain. I think all his cautions were spot on, no...

    Open Age Off the ball...

On a similar thread, last night's Man C v Real Madrid match, ball being knocked along Man C back four when referee Clement Turpin spots Haaland & a Real Madrid defender in the opposite half, grabbing each other's shirt & pushing each other. He blows to stop the game, calls them in, no cards...

    Exeter vs NFFC

In the same game, I was intrigued at the penalty shot out. Referee walked off to the penalty mark & AR briefed both GKs on his expectation on leaving their line etc. I have not seen a referee delegate this to their AR, is it a best practice? or actually better for the referee to be present at?

    4th match. First 11 a side.

If you forget the coin. Decide whether you are going heads or tails, conceal an imaginary coin with one hand cupping the other, tiny peek from you, move hand to pocket, do it really quickly. “Yes heads, do you want to KO or choose end?” Confidence & it will work…. 🤣

    Leeds vs Millwall

Gosh deusex, I'm in camp of: Clear Red card VAR should recommend review for C & O The KMI panel would unanimously support Red Any appeal would be dismissed I guess shows how subjective football is......

    Man Utd v Leicester City

It is clearly a bad error from AR. , but sympathy to Leicester & to the AR. I suspect we have all made blunders in our referee careers but not at this elite high profile level, a match defining error on live TV. He will be mortified & be with him for his whole career. So different to a...

    Dropped or Thrown?

Every day a school day, all 21 players must be 4 metres! Chaos if that flies in the top corner, & the referee gives a goal kick or worse a goal!

Delusional coaches killing the youth game

I mentored a young referee on Sunday morning, ref did well, all coaches & players very well behaved. However winning team coach says to me at the end of this competitive match “its so stressful managing the team!” They just feel that winning is the be all & end all & it’s U11 🤷

    Blackburn v Preston NE

Two penalties for Josh Smith, FWIW I can't see what he got wrong, gives first waves away the second. Keith Hackett scathing, who'd be a PGMOL official? https://www.footballinsider247.com/keith-hackett-preston-wronged-twice-after-stonewall-incident-vs-blackburn/...

    Dealing with chronic dissent

Sorry to hear that, you can likely give this coach/observer’s report his behaviour deserves, file it. However as previous poster commented, I suggest you re-write it, with three positives & three development points so you can at least benefit which is all that matters. You should have better...

    Misapplication of Law

I guess a replay is the best option. Just replaying the penalty shoot out would likely be a different 11 players for both sides anyway. Besides, if both teams are going to travel, let's have a game of football!

    PSG v Man City

I'm a bit confused (apologies), is deliberate play relevant in this play? Defenders plays the ball, if we are ok it brushed the attacker's shoulder on its way to the offside striker, then its offside. Any touch (even if not deliberate by an attacking player) can create an offside offence, so...

    subs

Technically a quick check on jewellery, kit including shin pads for incoming player but you can do this on the pitch as opposed to off the pitch at the halfway line as per standard substitution procedure.

Indirect free kick on edge of goal area

If we see this law change, we can credit the refchat forum 😂 ---- Forwarded Message ----- From: lawenquiries IFAB <lawenquiries@theifab.com> Subject: RE: Enforcing 9.15m from an indirect free kick Good morning Thank you for your e mail and suggestion which will be considered at an appropriate...

    Fouled Off The Pitch

IMHO I’m issuing a red card to the physio, drop ball to attacking team as by your wording they were in possession. LOTG wording doesn’t help for this scenario, but the second option below works. Although a red card won’t allow him to leave the technical area it will hopefully mean he wont be...

    Same colour shorts

I think Elite football is telling us same colour shorts is fine. Burnley & Sunderland wearing same white shorts on Friday evening.

    IPS v BHA

For me a red, had plenty of time to avoid this collision, wasn't getting to the ball. Excessive force & endangered safety of opponent.

    Bayern Munich vs Borussia M'glabbach

I think he panicked when he realised he was in danger of injury, when the ball was going to be blasted at him from very close range. Not a penalty, the ball is heading out of the PA, he has no reason to make himself bigger.

    ARS vs MNU

With the penalty shootout in this match, thought a good idea to check my law knowledge. (I failed on first one) 🙈 1. Man U have ten players, so Arsenal have to nominate a non penalty taker. “Our keeper won’t take a penalty ref.” 2. Jogging to penalty mark, striker pulls a hamstring, “Ref, sub...
