My point is that the game has no VAR and we were scrutinising a tight offside call. With VAR we ‘hate the millimetre decisions’ and it’s ‘ruining football.’ Either the VAR draws them and it’s wrong or the BBC do and we’re on board with it?
It took less than thirteen minutes for Match of the Day live to get their lines out to test Sian Massey-Ellis' offside decision.
Anyone still want to pretend that people would 'accept' the errors if we got rid of VAR?
Can I just say two things about the OP. Number one - I'm happy not to have had to referee that one. And number two: of those protesting, 2 (the fouler!) isn't one of them.
That doesn’t mean that it’s not a penalty, though? Are you saying a player has to be absolutely clattered so they can’t move in order for you to give a foul?
We can all say PL refereeing is getting worse and so on and we can look at various incidents over the last few weeks as a sign of that but the Werner and Salah penalties are nailed on. The only queries around them is the sanction.
You can't just make stuff up to 'prove' your point.
Rightly or wrongly Oliver, Taylor and Kavanagh are very highly though of by UEFA - CK was one of the selected non-Elite group referees to attend the UEFA Winter Seminar - so it seems likely that at least one of them will be at the Euros. Given...
How many decisions are discussed on this forum as being definitely right or wrong? We are yet to reach a consensus on the Martial penalty three days on - thanks for the patronising comment though!
FIFA didn't 'step in.' FIFA took over worldwide VAR management from IFAB as was planned from day 1.
I can think of very few situations in the PL where the answer is 'yes' or 'no' in such a cut and dry way.
Out of interest, how close should the player be? Can you give me an exact measurement?
I’m sorry but if players don’t want to be penalised for fouling opponents they shouldn’t do it. The only reason I’d be considering the distance from the ball is if I can play an advantage (unlikely here!)
