Awarded a penalty nobody asked for

The downside of this "expectation" is that it affectively gives a defender a green light to wipeout an attacker with a cheap follow through knowing they highly likely to get away with it.

    Leeds Vs Newcastle

Newcastle arguably could have had a 2nd penalty, definitely goes down as "seen them given". Will be interesting if it gets discussed in Howard Webb's VAR slot on MNF.

    Leeds Vs Newcastle

Safe to say there won't be many games where you will get 2 of the most clear cut penalties you will ever see in such a short space of time. Clumsy challenges at best. Not sure what Big Sam was spouting off at the 4th official about?

Milan derby - CL Semi Final

Thoughts on the VAR review and overturned Inter penalty decision? Contact appeared minimal, but clear and obvious error by the referee? My initial thought was the referee was being asked to review potential DOGSO as the defender made no attempt to play the ball. Interesting!

Goal scored directly from deflection off referee?

Who was credited with the goal? For me this is a bit like the Sanchez goal against Fulham years ago where the ball was moving away from goal, hits Sanchez's palm and goes straight into the Fulham goal. Whilst technically correct at the time with the laws in place and the laws have been...

    MCFC v Arsenal

How is this even a question? Oh yeah, because of a certain user and the team involved! I was more interested in, even in the world of the Premier League and "managing the occasion", how Partey got away without a 2nd yellow for a blatant rugby tackle. Same in the Southampton vs...

    NFO vs MUN

Definitely goes into the category of seen them given, although could also be argued attacker no26 is pulling Martial's shirt, but either way it's another day of Maguire doing Maguire things! His rugby tackle near half way line on 3 minutes which he got yellow carded for was atrocious "defending".

    QFK after asking for whistle

I have read this before, seems unbelievably harsh on the face of it. I had an u15s game years ago where I gave a free kick to the home team near the corner of the penalty area. I said to the 2 lads lining up the free kick "wait for the whistle lads" and they nodded. Got the wall in place and...

    West Ham Vs Arsenal

One of the most blatant handballs you're likely to see, followed by one of the worst penalty misses of the season! No shortage of incident and excitement for a neutral, especially one who doesn't like either team! :D

    West Ham Vs Arsenal

Not sure how kneeling can really be considered "challenging" for the ball, especially when the ball was already in a different postcode when contact was made, but hey we all know how loosely the laws are applied especially at the highest levels.

    West Ham Vs Arsenal

Interesting "challenge" by Gabriel for West Ham's penalty. Arsenal doing Arsenal things, looking like they are going to runaway with it, then shooting themselves in the foot. No apparent card for the challenge or the mass protest following the decision with Arsenal claiming handball by...

    Liverpool Vs Arsenal

Common sense has prevailed. As others have suggested, shame the PFA & FA have wasted a golden opportunity to remind their members with regard to behaviour towards officials!

    Tottenham Vs Brighton

BBC reporting VAR official Michael Salisbury for the game has been given the weekend off for failing to recommend a penalty review, whilst on-field referee Stuart Attwell is on VAR duty for Wolves Vs Brentford.

    Wrexham v Notts County

Utterly ridiculous "defending", nailed on penalty. Only watched from about 60 minutes, the standard of defending at times was hilariously bad! If that's top of the division, hate to see what it's like at the bottom!

    Rochdale Vs Walsall

Saw this on TT from the opposite side of the AR and behind the goal, didn't realise it was from a football league game. When the AR flags, he is nowhere near being in line with the goal, can only imagine he thought the keeper carried the ball over the line in flight, but the keeper released the...

Henderson mouthing off yet again, skip the lecture ref and just get the card out!

    Liverpool Vs Arsenal

Usual game of "Let's all complain about a fairly straightforward penalty decision". Looked like Holding went straight through the back of Jota, Arsenal let off with another terrible Salah penalty though.

    Liverpool Vs Arsenal

TAA and Xhaka have always had the air of players who could start an argument in a empty room, so no surprise to see them square up to each other. Interesting incident with the AR, doubt that's the last we have heard of it. Robertson's yellow for mouthing off?

    Tottenham Vs Brighton

Think Brighton have every reason to feel aggrieved about this game. Not convinced about either of the Brighton disallowed goals for handball, certainly the 2nd one - looks like the attacker's hip, not arm on replays. First one, highly debatable, more shoulder than upper arm for me. No idea what...
