    Appointments (official / unofficial)

If you pick up appointments directly from clubs, ensure that the clubs / league / competitions are affiliated to the local CFA.. Discipline would difficult for the CFA to enforce and there may be Insurance issues if not.

    Card Procedure

I don't feel that either approach is incorrect (quick card or procedural). However, as MDC at this level any advice I give is really be based around the referee's confidence in the team sheets. This season alone, I know of three incidents where reports submitted on names taken later from a team...

    Man City v Arsenal

The following is from the LOTG (I think around 1980 - laws were easier to digest when I started. Certainly when I first started blowing my whistle, goal kicks were 'sided'. LAW XVI. - GOAL-KICK When the whole of the ball passes over the goal-line excluding that portion between the goal-posts...

    Man City v Arsenal

ladbroke8745 I bow to you superior knowledge of Arsenal FC., as you have apparently nailed your colours to the mast. I'm surprised at the effort and information you put into to your reply. I would not have enough interest in the reasons why Raya was not named in the Bolton game to have gone to...

    Man City v Arsenal

Master stroke by Arteta before the Bolton game, using his inside information from this forum. With regard to Raya going down injured during the game against MCFC, he (Raya) not even on the bench for Bolton game, so perhaps he was injured despite feelings registered on here. (Prior to any...

    Man City v Arsenal

Doku YC (lack of), would have put MO in a ridiculous position, as he (MO) was clearly telling the Arsenal players the kick needed to be taken from a position further back. As previous posts have stated the ball movement was minimal in relation to the correct placement for the kick. Trossard YC...

    First Veterans fixture (over 35)

Can only answer from my own experience. Standard tends usually to be reasonably good. Quite often you may find some of the players have previously played at quite a high level, semi pro or higher. (I had a couple of ex football league players in one game - they constantly pushed the boundaries...

    Folkestone v Billericay

Point of interest in the video, as far as I'm concerned. At what point immediately prior to, or during this incident, does the second ball appear on the pitch ? As James rightly says, certainly an awareness issue here. Leave the injury to the physio, move away and keep an eye on things.

Dutch FA consider abandoning offsides at grassroots football

I don't know about village football in the middle ages. This sounds like Sunday morning 'Pub' football !!

Dutch FA consider abandoning offsides at grassroots football

These are two quotes from the newspaper article. "The KNVB said abolishing offsides at the lower levels of the game, where there are no KNVB officials and matches are flagged by club members, could lead to an end to the threats and violence in amateur football in the country." "Last season...

    Hi guys

Thinking back to laces in the ball, proper shin pads, white turnovers on my socks and the days of Jack Taylor. However did we cope without buzzers.

    Dissent

This stems from the very top level. How often do we see it in televised games. No lip reading expertise is needed to see "f... off" regularly being aimed at an official. The higher the level - the higher the threshold seems to be, though I know of no direct advice on the subject. At grassroots...

    A very strange decision

This goes into the category below 'major development' !! ( I think it's headed ' Take a trip to the Optician'). I think there's even a good case for this being violent conduct. In my opinion this is not a challenge for the ball, it's a assault.

    Open Age First OA game

All the above advice and concentrate on direction for throw ins etc., particularly early in second half etc.. Teams have changed ends and I've seen a throw being flagged the wrong way several times. (Most of us have probably been caught out to some degree by this). Most of all enjoy and good luck.

    Observation

SFP involves excessive force / brutality when challenging for the ball. VC involves excessive force / brutality when no challenge for the ball is involved. Not sure why this is not seen as VC given the circumstances detailed.
