    COP v MUN

Just seen replay in slow motion on tv. (same view as VAR I assume). Maguire heads ball, ball touches his fingers, then ball touches defenders arm about a foot away. Penalty given following VAR review. I remember when handball involved 'intent' and common sense..

Cautioning for Adopting An Aggressive Attitude

"From here, it settles down for a few minutes but then again, the same away player is giving the home player a tirade of grief, just to try and get a bite out of him with some pretty horrific language." If the language is so horrific - OFFINABUS, red card ? Player is obviously a complete idiot...

    Liverpool v Everton

City fan myself and not questioning the decision, so much as raising a point - "An example of a different interpretation by different referee's, both on this forum and even at the top level." Very, very similar incidents in my opinion both open to interpretation, and two different interpretations.

    Liverpool v Everton

An example of a different interpretation by different referee's, both on this forum and even at the top level. Akanji 15 - 20 yards inside Brighton half, barely touches Brighton player = second yellow. Konate 10 yards inside his own, Liverpool half , barely touches Everton player = free kick...

    How many games a weekend?

I was there by direct request / appointment from the RDO. Pardon my use of terminology - as a coach. Pressure is an individual thing and as I said a willingness to oblige can lead to pressure if these referees are not strong enough to say "No". The point I was making is, I feel, both real and...

    How many games a weekend?

I made no suggestion of them being forced to do games ("These young referees often accept multiple appointments because of a fear of upsetting the Ref.Sec. and / or just wishing to oblige"). As for phoning the RDO / promotion coordinator and considering that observers are appointed to games...

    How many games a weekend?

A big issue here is the fact that most leagues (particularly youth leagues) are seriously short of referees. Ref. Secs. are now offloading fixtures to many young referees on a multiple basis, using such reasons as convenience (multiple games at the same venue etc.). These young referees often...

Shirt pull a mandatory caution ?

If you are due a match day coach, then presumably you are going 7 - 6 or 6 - 5. Sections 2 and 3 of both report forms are headed 'Application of Law' (including identification of penal / technical offences and dealing with misconduct) and 'Communication' (including using voice to communicate)...

Shirt pull a mandatory caution ?

Shirt pulling is very much a 'depends on the circumstances' issue. Punishment (if action taken), can range right through from simply a free kick, through YC and even a RC (e.g. if it is the means used when committing a DOGSO (S5).

    First Sin Bin!

Sounds like a fully justified and correct use of the 'Bin' Remember CFA's etc collate information about dissent incidents and offenders by using WGS, so be sure to report it in that forum. Well done.

Open Age Assault - Who To Contact?

May have already been covered, if so I'm sorry. If not, and in addition to everything already stated, then if this was during the game (not clear from what I've read), you should certainly abandon / terminate the game. Glad you're physically ok.

    Refereeing in a Cast

Could cause problems as previously posted in advice by alexgr and social lurker.. During the game, you have cause to tell a player to remove a ring or neck chain, which you didn't notice pre match. He refuses claiming it is no more dangerous than your cast. What happens next? (I'm playing...

Restart After Noticing Too Many Players on the Field after a Goal is Scored

IFAB 2023 / 2024 Law 3 – The Players Goal scored with an extra person on the field of play Additional text If, after a goal is scored, the referee realises, before play restarts, that an extra person was on the field of play when the goal was scored, and that person interfered with play: •...

2022/23 Laws of the game - hard copy

Any news yet please Ross. Really starting to get a lot of questions about arrival. Appreciate your work load but would now really like a confirmed update re delivery. No sign of anything yet.

Re-entering the field of play without the referee's permission.

Assuming the player needs permission to re enter, stop play unless an advantage can be played. (In case of advantage I would say it should be a very clear advantage and definitely at or near opponents PA). If play stopped YC for entering the field of play without permission and restart with a...

Trying to get promoted this season from level 7 to level 6. New requirements?

Yes, I believe Y2 to 7 is age dependant. However, matches completed as aY2 can I understand be used as qualifying games for 7 to 6 pathway once the official is of age.

Trying to get promoted this season from level 7 to level 6. New requirements?

There are at least four areas in the 'positioning & movement' section of the L7 - L6 report form where a matchday coach will assess your fitness during the game. If multiple 'focus for development' comments are made, I'm sure that the CFA would not view it favourably. As a coach/mentor/...

    NEW MCI re-refereeing

Just don't expect player safety to come into it ! Previous mentions in the thread about player safety etc., it isnt the issue. The issue is the object of the lunge is to bring down an opponent, (its not a tackle or challenge in any sense of either term). Im saying that under present laws this is...
