Yeah I didn’t go - haven’t heard anything since either.

    No Home Manager contact

Suppose to be refereeing tomorrow morning but I’ve had no contact from the home manager about location or confirmed kick off time. I emailed my league ref contact earlier today but he hasn’t replied to me. Not sure what to do really, not gonna drive around hoping to find the game in the morning...

    Assistant Ref

Yeah I’m mid twenties so I have plenty of years ahead of me. I plan to just keep at it and see how I get on, haven’t even transitioned to open age games yet so hard to imagine myself reffing at level 3/4 stage at the moment!

    Assistant Ref

I see your point as you’d want officials who can cover all angles, but do you not think it would also work well to have specialists in their fields. How often at the top level do you see an assistant need to referee? As it’s a different role there should be an easier pathway in my opinion.

    Assistant Ref

That’s a real shame. I understand that as a top level assistant you need to be a good referee aswell, but to have to get to level 3 seems abit much. I highly doubt I’ll get to those dizzy heights as a referee!

    Assistant Ref

Hi guys, I’ve refereed a few games now and I’ve also been an assistant for a couple, and tbh I think I enjoy being an assistant more. Out of interest... Is there a way to progress through the ranks solely as an assistant, or do you have to progress only as a Ref?

    Where to put the bag?

Do you keep your car keys on you then while reffing? I’d find that quite irritating! In the few games so far I’ve just left my bag wherever round the pitch but I think I will start asking to leave the bag with the home manager if no changing rooms are available.

    Advice please...

So Saturday was my 2nd ever game, and again I’m pleased with how it went. One major incident that I’m pretty sure I dealt with correctly, was the CAR stuck his flag up when the striker was offside, yet the ball was played to the onside winger so I said play on... the defending team just stopped...

    First ever game...

Yeah I was surprised also tbh, but happy to take on the challenge. Luckily there weren’t any issues with the parents at all, with the ‘respect line’ they were far back from the pitch enough for me to easily ignore and there was no arguing between them. Game got pretty scrappy and feisty towards...

    First ever game...

So I’ve just got home from the game... Overall I thought it went really well, always thought I had control of the game and the key decisions I made were probably correct. The game was MK Dons v AFC Wimbledon, so despite the age it still got pretty feisty. Plus I didn’t have any linos, so was...

    First ever game...

Another quick one... game is in 3 hours so not sure if this will be seen in time. Got bought my Nike 2018 kit with FAMOA badge for birthday... am I right in thinking I can’t wear that for first 5 games til I qualify properly? I do have an older Umbro style top but obviously the Nike would look...

    First ever game...

Another question if anyone sees this before my game tomorrow... what’s the deal with team sheets? Do I need to request or will I just have them handed to me? Do I write down all the names and give it back or keep the sheet given for my own reference? Thanks!

    First ever game...

So this Sunday marks my first ever game as a Referee... a youth u14 game between two football league clubs! It’s been a couple months since I finished my ref course... so I need a refresh of what to do/what’s expected of me from the moment I get there. Any chance of some help/tips?

Should I start at Youth Level or Adult?

I’m in the same position as you, despite being a little older at 25. I’ve come to the decision of doing 5-10 games at youth level just to get the ball rolling and gain some confidence. Then have a go at OA and hopefully take it from there!

    What equipment should I buy?

Cheers guys, appreciate it. I've always played football so own a pair of boots already, although maybe a little flash for a ref. Tempted by going all out on a pair of Adidas Copa's or Kaisers but i'll maybe spend money on more important things first!

    What equipment should I buy?

Hi guys - first post on here. I recently completed a ref course in Berks/Bucks area, and I will need to do my 5 games to be officially qualified in the next 2 months. I plan to do adult football but I am going to do these first 5 + maybe a few more in the local Youth leagues just to get the...
