Club Assistant Referees - Expected and Offsides?

To confirm, the qualified bit is whether they've passed a CAR workshop or is a qualified referee. Offsides are an absolute skill and I wouldn't expect anyone not trained to give them. However, as you say, you're the qualified person and it's up to you decide to go with the unqualified person's...

Club Assistant Referees - Expected and Offsides?

Many thanks for your replies. It appears FA Guidance is ignored/over-ruled by certain County FAs. Some referees go further and don't use CARs, contrary to FA SCORY rules. For me, CARs are always useful as a confirmation of my thoughts for ball in/out and offside, although there is some mileage...

Club Assistant Referees - Expected and Offsides?

Assistance on UK countrywide views welcome. FA SCORY begins: This document contains the Standard Code of Rules developed by The Football Association for Mini Soccer and Youth Football Competitions (the “Standard Code”). The Standard Code is mandatory for all Mini Soccer and Youth Football...

    France vs England

It's not a head injury. More incompetence.

    France vs England

    Another appalling set of officials.

    NED v ARG

I think you are delusional, but let's not be rude shall we? He is a referee who has made a large number of very poor decisions, possibly based on a directive that he's completely misunderstood. He has decided against giving 2nd yellows for reckless tackles and one red for the deliberate and...

Most of us in here I suspect. He was terrible.

Reactions to Oliver vs Taylor from England?

I'm glad MO doesn't smile. I'm a miserable bugger and hate all this smiling nonsense.

    CRO - BRA

But - that was the main reason it was brought in. I think you're looking to find something that isn't there. A player thighing a ball back, as in the example in this game, was an example used by the CFA and LRA as something that isn't trickery.

    CRO - BRA

An example is a goal kick that is chipped up by a defender for a colleague to head back to the keeper.

    CRO - BRA

Didn't the lotg say that a player could pass back, and the keeper pick it up, if the pass back was knee or above - which is what happened in this case. Can't see it in lotg now. Your comment re trickery only relates to managed situations like throw ins, doesn't it?

Managers/Coaches asking not to put cards through

Having spoken to the county FA about this, they want you to report the coach for asking this.

FRA vs POL Matchday 14 - Valenzuela (VEN)

So it's now 2 cautions given when there wasn't even a foul. Really poor. Why don't ARs just say no foul in the earpiece or the ref give himself a couple seconds?

KOR vs GHA Matchday 8 - Taylor (ENG)

You'd have thought so but it was on the far side of the pitch, no official near him and play just carried on.

KOR vs GHA Matchday 8 - Taylor (ENG)

Should AT have checked the head of the Ghanaian whose bandage fell off? There looked to be blood on the bandage when he came back on initially.

ENG vs USA Matchday 6 - Valenzuela (VEN)

I'm enjoying him pulling back the throw ins. And not feeling he has to tell players to part at corners. A couple of bug bears of mine.

    Weymouth v Chesterfield

Even with grainy footage, that tackle is a two footed lunge, off his feet, not in control, with excessive force, with studs showing and is dangerous. Ticks all the boxes for a red card and for me, is a red card. It disturbs and upsets me that fellow referees will just play on. Perhaps courses...

    QPR v WBA

For me, it's similar to an attacker pushing a defender into a goalkeeper and into a post. There are consequences for an action like this that wouldn't necessarily be the same for a similar action in the centre circle.

    QPR v WBA

    Excessive and dangerous and red.
