    Promotion News

My RDO told us they were waiting to hear from the FA regarding the number of matches required in order to qualify for 7-6. That was weeks ago, haven’t heard anything since.

    Wengers/FIFA’s offside proposal

Exactly. All well and good saying ‘daylight’, well what happens when there’s potentially only 1mm of daylight, or 1mm level. The problem doesn’t go away. I’ve said it on here before, but the MLS model is the best way of doing it. VAR reviews, Referee looks at the monitor, if it’s not obvious...

    Wengers/FIFA’s offside proposal

Apologies if this has been covered. Apparently ‘Wengers’ offside proposal is to be trialled (in China, I think!?). The jist of it is, if any part of the attackers body is in line with the defender, then he’s onside. The claims are this will stop VAR reviewing tight OS decisions by the mm...

    MCI vs AV

Mings complaining about ‘knowing nothing about that aspect of the OS law’. As though that’s anybody else’s fault but his. Also, I’m certain the clubs are briefed on law changes prior to each season...sounds as though Mings sat there on his phone paying no attention during that briefing.

    Positive Comments

I get the occasional ‘best ref we’ve had this season’ which is always nice to hear even if I don’t always believe it! I gave a dangerous FK against a team in the last minute once, 100% foul, the captain wasn’t best pleased with the call and declared “it’s your first bad call today”, to which I...

    Burnley vs Wolves

There is, that’s undeniable. Find myself explaining handballs and offsides constantly since the latest round of law adjustments. I’ve assisted for the referee I was referring to and know he’s very good. There was a point where the keeper was screaming at him non-stop for about 30 seconds over a...

    Burnley vs Wolves

Yeah I get the ‘challenge’ aspect of it, mate. The challenge of a hotly contested game, with proper (but fair) tackles and adults with mature temperaments playing, have been my favourites. That’s what I expected from open age football. Unfortunately most games are played by entitled whiners who...

    Burnley vs Wolves

I’m fed up of it, to the point I’m thinking of binning it off completely. I always expected the ‘abuse’ part to be the most difficult part of refereeing...thankfully I’ve not experienced any in the 18 months I’ve refereed, but the constant moaning and crying from grown men who simply don’t like...

    Tracking Distances

I usually cover 5.2miles (ish) a game, but have done as high as 6.4miles...not sure where this lines up when compared with the pro’s? My average on ref six is a tad skewed because I forgot to end a match before I drove home once, so the distance covered for that game was close to 20 miles!

    First Game this Sunday 😩

It’ll go better than you expect. Remember nobody knows it’s your first game, they just see another referee, so even if you don’t quite feel like one yet, just act like one! Don’t be afraid to give yourself time to make a decision either, there’s no rush. Plenty of smiles, talk to the players...

    PSG vs Istanbul

Since the thread has already gone past the point of no return I’ll raise my objection now to the poppy, a symbol of remembrance for ALL who died in service to this country, being identified as political. It being brandished as such is deeply offensive notion, manufactured by far left...

    PSG vs Istanbul

There’s nothing to be concerned about, Graeme. I’ve mentioned a 2/3 occasions that using skin colour in the first instance isn’t something I’d advice doing and that using it when there’s no alternative, is perfectly fine. The fact that it’s seems perfectly acceptable to falsely accuse someone...

Virtue signalling. Gary Linekar done a fine job on BT.

    PSG vs Istanbul

If that is indeed the case I think BLM would be better off fighting for inequality and discrimination, where it exists, rather than creating an environment where if you’re a certain skin colour your not allowed to say another person has a certain skin colour, when identifying them. It’s an...

    PSG vs Istanbul

I’m very conscious of not letting this spiral into a political debate so I’m not going to go into it. If someone is so sensitive that they construe somebody identifying them using a major identifying characteristic, when no other identifying characteristic was seemingly available, as...

    PSG vs Istanbul

I have to disagree with this, one. A black person is black, a white person is white, a brown person is brown. It’s a perfectly acceptable defining characteristic, in the absence of any other in this circumstance. It’s nothing to be sensitive about. Would I advise you use skin colour if you had a...

    PSG vs Istanbul

100%. Skin colour is an identifying characteristic, I don’t see an issue in identifying someone as black/brown/white as it’s a factual description. I’m not sure whether or not the issue is with misinterpretation of the officials use of the word ‘black’, being close to the offensive N word. If...

    Cautioned for scoring!

I once cautioned a player for USB after he was taunting a defender during play, he was laughing and the likes every time he dribbled past him...surprised the defender didn’t go through him! Anyway I done it at the next stoppage, which was seemingly incorrect. No way I would’ve cautioned for the...
