    What was the right call

Found this in some England Football documents I have. Hope it helps. Plenty to discuss in the attached. A red card for DOGSO for heading the ball away ! ? Who wants to comment first ?

    Forest Vs Liverpool

DJIC said: 'The evidence suggests the sound has been manipulated on this Tweet. Both MoD & SkySports links are both consistent showing when the whistle was blown, with the players reaction, & crowd groans with the ball outside the area at the Forrest player’s feet. This is poor from PT, an error...

    Worried about having enough observations

Quite true. However, the behaviour of technical area occupants / team officials can be easily monitored and the LOTG / Comp rules applied without dugouts and TA's. Appropriate action can be taken as necessary against offenders, with or without such markings or structures. Many 5 - 4...

    Junior/Youth keeper handball / crying

The original thread is about u12 age group as I understand it. That was the age at which my response was aimed. Not sure why you quote U7, as I didn't and I gave a generalised opinion. To answer your question - if I felt the circumstances warranted a card it would be issued. At any age, the...

    Junior/Youth keeper handball / crying

Whilst a referee should be looking to educate and help players at youth levels (particularly lower age groups), many coaches, parents and players seem to forget that the threshold for offences remains the same across all age groups. Similar to a previous post " if you can't do the time, don't do...

    Game abandoned !!

I was presuming that myself, not my informant (sounds like the IFAB Police). I know of no other valid reason for 5 players to leave the field under yellow cards. Only other explanation I can think of is a mass exodus as in 'Teddy of pram tantrums'. Either way less than 7 = game over.

    Game abandoned !!

Can't find anything one way or the other, but certainly a conflict there. Let's see what response Gabriel receives from IFAB. (Holding my breath in anticipation). ;)

    Game abandoned !!

I quite agree. But as I am relating this second hand, I cannot confirm or negate the procedural points which you correctly detail. I don't know if a whistle was used, neither do I know what if any conversation / explanation was made / given. (If the referee had a safety concern I would not...

    Game abandoned !!

Probably not much conversation here, but the following situation was outlined to me by a friend (not a referee etc) who asked my opinion. He witnessed it on one of several pitches, whilst walking his dog in the park. He asked me for my thoughts on what he had seen. Open age game as far as I...

Sin Bins - are you finding they help?

Interesting as you say ChasO, but doesn't in my opinion cover offences committed whilst already in the the bin. (2nd caution for offence other than dissent (or RC) whilst in the bin - cannot return etc.). This is the area where I have found most confusion, particularly with younger and...

Sin Bins - are you finding they help?

Seems to be some confusion / difficulty with multiple cards / sin bins. I've attached the best infographic I've come across. Hope it may help if anyone is interested.

    Double yellow seconds apart

It may well make things more difficult for you, but please don't accept too readily that your interpretation is wrong. The LOTG are quite clear. I doubt very much that the leagues will have lowered the threshold. I suspect the threshold of referees has by custom and practice become too high.

    1st observed match

JamesL covers the point well. Going forward, be yourself, don't try to be someone else just to impress the Coach.

    Double yellow seconds apart

Second yellow not an issue and not relevant in my opinion. "He's ****ing offside!" Nope. You're a disgrace you are. Let that slide. Get notepad out to mark score down. "Open your ****ing eyes". More than enough in first part of your account for a straight red card.

FIFA - previous copies of the LOTG

Not sure that I will be downloading them all, but your time and effort in posting such a useful link is appreciated, particularly the 'older' versions.

    North Macedonia v England

Consistency, positioning and offence recognition could easily have resulted in "development issues" in a L7 observation

"PL managers want VARs to be assigned to refereeing teams"

Heard today that Stockley Park have been in touch with Bletchley Park, enquiring about an Enigma machine to encode their conversations, just to keep us guessing even more.🤣

    COP v MUN

Just seen replay in slow motion on tv. (same view as VAR I assume). Maguire heads ball, ball touches his fingers, then ball touches defenders arm about a foot away. Penalty given following VAR review. I remember when handball involved 'intent' and common sense..

Cautioning for Adopting An Aggressive Attitude

"From here, it settles down for a few minutes but then again, the same away player is giving the home player a tirade of grief, just to try and get a bite out of him with some pretty horrific language." If the language is so horrific - OFFINABUS, red card ? Player is obviously a complete idiot...
