Unusual incident from reffing my sons U10's 7v7 match at the weekend. An attacking player was heading towards goal and just as he got to the penalty area his boot came off when another player came to tackle him. He kept control of the ball to my surprise and play continued. Now he's in the...
Does anyone know what the rules are for 9v9 youth football regarding slide tackles? Are they outlawed completely at this age?
UK based using FA rules.
Thanks
I've been having a bit of trouble dealing with pushing and shoving in a few games (usually at corners) where players are jostling for position etc. Does anyone have any advice on what to say to players or how to deal with it. I find it difficult to determine who, if anyone, is actually commiting...
During a few of my games 9v9 games, I've had to stop the game mid play to deal with an injury or a player hurt etc. The team in possession are sometimes unhappy with this as they may have a promising attack etc. but player safety comes first. What is the correct way to restart play after the...
I'm a relatively new referee, UK based, having done a dozen or so games at U11/U12 9v9 so still finding my feet a little bit.
Do I have to further qualify in order to referee 11v11 or is this now OK that I've done the 5 games with offsides that the FA require.
Thanks.
Refereed two games today with just one minor incident of note. U11's football so playing offsides etc. Defender passes back to the goalkeeper who picks the ball up. I award an IDFK and play continues without incident. At HT, the coach approaches me (in a nice civilised manner I'm happy to add)...
My sons U10 coach approached me recently to ask me about goal kicks in 9v9 U12 football. One of the teams he coaches is struggling to effectively clear the ball from goal kicks so he wants to work on some drills. He asked me for clarity in the law, specifically are defenders allowed to receive...
I played what I thought was a good advantage today but ended up with a bit of grief from a coach. A pretty fast player was making his way through the opposition towards goal, two or maybe even three had a go at stopping him with them all making some sort of contact and slightly putting the...
I reffed an U11 game a couple of weeks ago. During play a player was running down the wing at speed and I'm pretty sure it was a parent not a coach that shouted 'Take him out (player name)...'. Fortunately he didn't and nothing happened.
Should we as refs take any action for shouts like this ?
I've been doing some tests from this website 'areferee.com', a supposed FIFA Laws of the Game test. I came across the question that I got wrong but I'm sure I've read that you cannot be offside in your own half. I'm finding different answers on the internet, can anyone clarify ?
Reffed my second match today, U11's, went OK. Very good standard of football IMO. One thing I need a bit of advice about is when to call the offsides. I've been waiting until the offending player touches the ball before calling offside but what I'm finding is there are plenty of shouts for...
So had my first match today U11 boys and things went pretty well. Did a pitch inspection first and then a kit safety inspection. Asked one of the coaches if the team all has shin pads on. Yes was the reply. Noticed one kid without so pointed this out. Coach ordered kid to get his shin pads from...
Hi all, I recently completed the FA referee course and now my first match is this coming weekend. It's an U11 boys game. I've refereed lots of games already but for U10's where they do not play offside and things are a bit more relaxed. Just wanted a bit of advice on general things like how...
Hi all. My first post here. I've been helping out as a referee for my Sons football team for the last couple of years or so, he is now age 9. It's been a great experience, however as they are getting older I recognise things are getting much more serious and competitive. To this end I have...
