am after some help advice would like to make a slideshow of pictures with a specific song in background. Is this difficult

do you want it to be a video that shows a series of pictures with music, or does it have to be a slideshow in something like power point?

Also what computer do you have, if you need a video some operating systems come with software already installed.

I remember back in the day doing this using windows movie maker - does that even still exist or am I getting old?

Ive tried various apps and programs, just looks like a 3 year olds done it

assuming you are on Windows 10 - Simplest way is to select open the photos app and then select your pictures. once done you can choose the slideshow icon.

For music just play if via your music app

I think there's an app that could do that, search the Playstore for music video maker apps.
