Some players put tape on the ring finger to symbolise the ring that they have removed. Even though I agree it might look a little suspicious, without actually examining the tape, I'm not sure it's possible to say what, if anything was under it.

If you look closely i think you will in fact notice that it is a hula hoop in case he gets peckish in the second half, later on in the game it wasn't on his finger because he did in fact get peckish.

Later on in the game it wasn't an issue because he was sent off at the time this photograph was taken - maybe one hula hoop wasn't enough!
