Hi all.
I'm doing a referee course next week and being a girl I'm struggling to get appropriate boots that are black.
I have found some children's ones that fit but I'm not sure if they are suitable with them needing to be mostly black.
Here's the first pair: http://www.sportsdirect.com/nike-tiempo-rio-fg-junior-football-boots-085029?colcode=08502940
And the other: http://www.sportsdirect.com/adidas-...football-boots-junior-086100?colcode=08610040
If you can tell me whether they are suitable or not please!
Thanks in advance

Hi Lydia

The Nikes are very suitable and also very comfortable. I struggle to fit in most brands of boot but the Nike Tiempos were my favourite boots for about 15 years. As for the Adidas pair, the ankle support might be ok but most referees don't wear that type of boot. I also found the Adidas boots very narrow.

That's great thanks for your help!

I wear pumas bought from Sports Direct, though I did have to go up a size. I went in to replace my 4 year old Sondicos which I found comfy hard wearing and cheap but they didnt have my size so I am now in pumas which are comfy. As for longevity with the pumas only time will tell.

Lydia, just a little tip.......wear what fits and is comfortable......don't worry about colour too much.

I use off road running shoes to referee in, one pair are maroon with yellow, the other blue with black.

Unless of course you want to aim really high in your refereeing career. Then you'll have to conform like most on here......

just to settle your worries ... I have the adidas boots for my Sundays and some lines - and I am going to be purchasing the Nike's in SG for those muddy days.

good luck

at least this is better than the white nike mercial vapours a ref was wearing the other week!

I cannot get a pair black boots, i've tried everywhere (size 11) best I could manage is a black pair but the heels are blue my own fault really i'm not paying silly money for top range pair.......

Need to look at those, see what I can do for next season!

And you don't want your boots to outflash the players :D

Why not, last time I played football I was centre back the position played by the one with the brightest boots in the team.

I would have played left back but we only eleven........
