Level 7 Referee
My watch has broke and looking at getting a digital Lorus watch so I can have it for tomorrow and Sunday has anyone used one of these before? And if so would you recommend it as something to do for just one weekend until mg proper one is fixed? Thanks

The Referee Store
Apologies for being a bit blunt but as a level 7 referee like myself, I'd recommend getting a watch that tells the time and/or has a stopwatch. Nothing else matters. I would recommend having 2 watched, one telling the time and one on stopwatch, just in case. That works for me anyway. Couple of cheapo casio ones from Argos, £9 each.will last longer than me!

And those 30 years down the line!!
if you have been refereeing for that long
1 refereeing isnt going to be a 5 minute hobby then you go off to do something else
2 you have earned enough in match fees to spend some decent money on watches

Or I pay 20 quid at the start of each season for 2 new watches and the referee profit goes to buy nice things!

Decent? What do you class as decent? Cheap Casio will work forever and never let you down

Nothing wrong in wanting better equipment. Nobody is saying a casio won't do the job.

Each to own, but, surely the time can only be the time !! No matter how much you pay for it or what company makes it, the time can only be.....the time?!!!!!! I am at a loss as to understand how one make/manufacturer can be better equip than the other?
How can one brand tell the time better than the other?!!!!!
or indeed how can one stop watch be better than another?

I do wonder why some newer referees seem to want to overspend on un-needed specialist expensive equipment, maybe its a modern thing and only the best will do!!

I was going to look for my missing Lorus watch, but I could never find them few seconds to look!

However my original watch which the strap has broken (I'm buying new straps) was £275 however I got it a year before I started refereeing so I didn't just buy it for refereeing.

And when I say "I" bought it well it was a Christmas present so ...

I should talk, I have a £1200 tap in my kitchen so I'm a soft lad for a good gadget!!!
Jesus Christ does the tap speak to your misses when she gets annoying and all you wanna do is watch the footy and debate on how differently you would officiate a prem match instead of the ref you are watching? I hope so for that kind of money
