And that is potentially a problem for this weekend. Ordinarily trains from Manchester and London take different routes, but now everyone will have to travel to Sheffield and then London all on the same trains. Bet your life they don't have the foresight to make them alcohol free, it could be carnage.

Yes normally it isn’t a problem as some stay overnight and some get the train. This year very few will get the train and even fewer will stay over due to it being a bank holiday weekend. On top of this both sets of fans will be using the same motorways and roads to get down there, making car bus journeys etc even longer and possibly creating massive delays if there’s a major crash on one of these roads. So yeah it wouldn’t normally be a problem but it will be this weekend. Most wouldn’t be as arsed if the FA had moved it a week forward or back, as could have easily been done when the FA discovered that no trains would be running and god knows why they would put it on an Easter weekend anyway
East Midlands Railway haven't reopened their buffet cars since Covid started, so no chance of them selling anything.
Don't want to over dramatise, but this could be carnage. We know that everyone is going the Sheffield to St Pancras route as the seats have all sold out, but obviously people can travel anyway without a seat if they have an off peak return. These are small trains, often only five carriages (two of which are first class) , and tens of thousands of fans are going to be trying to use them. It really doesn't bode well.
I think its got to be better than had everyone gone up the west coast, at least this way some will go on the coaches or make their own way.

bottom line fact remains Wembley is contracted to host FA semis and given the choice between p1ssing off a one trip fan at £60 for the game, or, an investor, who might well be into football as easy as not, putting in £10k per year, its just ridiculous to even enter discussion.
London and the UK in general has fantastic road links, yes there might be a crash, but, there might not be. If we always factored in every potential hazard we would never leave the house.
Hearts and Hibs fans would prob prefer tomorrows game at Murrayfield, but, its also contracted to be at the national stadium, I get the england train issue but, Mancs to London is simple
Have you been to London any time recently? I live less than 10 miles from Wembley Stadium, but it can easily take me an hour to drive there, and I live right by the North Circular upon which Wembley also stands. Parking at Wembley is extremely limited, costs £40, and within a 5 mile radius all street parking is classified as residents only on matchdays. I've been "fortunate" enough to referee or observe at Wembley FC on a day that there is an event on at Wembley and it can only be described as a nightmare.
Off topic, but when the new Wembley was built it should never have been built in London, it should have been moved to a greenfield site somewhere in the Midlands.
