I quite often scratch my nuts on the pitch
Surely easier to use your hands rather than stooping down to make nut-pitch contact?

I wouldn't chew gum for a job interview. This is a straw man argument.
No where did I state a job interview is a football match.
In fact, pretend this isn't a refs forum. Forget refereeing. Forget football.
Would you chew gum at your dream job interview?
How does an interview equate to refereeing? You're trying to compare apples and oranges. Do you have PTSD from getting detentions at school for chewing gum in class?Would you go to a job interview chewing gum?
If you want "unprofessional gum use", I once ran a line for a ref who filled his pocket with a handful of some kind of gum/gum-shaped sweet so that he could keep himself topped up as the game went on. For reasons only known to him, he also put his yellow card in the same pocket - so the first card issued was accompanied by a waterfall of gum pellets onto the pit

I struggle with you claiming strawman.
A job interview as you correctly identified is not a football game. They are massively different and I am lost in your poor analogy.
Anyway, let's put this to bed.
I wouldn't chew gum during a job interview as we are in close proximity, indoors and it can be distracting to the interviewers.
I would chew chewing gum on a football pitch as we are outdoors, well spaced, I am there to do a job not get a job, it may help with concentration (placebo or not) and me chewing gum shouldn't distract the players from doing their job.
For an analogy to be useful there has to be a level of equivalence. And there isn’t here.
I concede that showering the pitch in extra bits of unchewed gum is unprofessional. But one piece in your mouth? No one should care - and if they do, it's their problem not yours. So you concede it is unprofessional.
Thank you, that's all I needed.
For the record I'm not that bothered if you chew tobacco. It's amatur football.
Says the troll…The equivalence is the chewing gum!?!
At this point you're trolling surely?
