Well, I don't have the paper yet, but it was a good game. A tricky one with one team that whinges a lot, likes a dive and a play act.
ARs were solid, prepared and did the basics well.
Whites (the whingers) against yellows. Good control in first half, surprisingly clean game. Yellows get the breakaway goal. Then give away a silly handball penalty. White striker spoons it, keeper touches it onto the post, rolls along the goal line, on to the other post, and the kicker spoons the rebound! My assessor asked if the keeper had touched it. I hope he did and thought he did, as I wasn't thinking about the kicker's second touch - one to remember there!
White got a couple back and went up 3-1 at the end with another penalty. Yellow's had one penalty appeal turned down. Contact looked likely but myself or the AR didn't see it and I couldn't give it.
The bit of match control that could have been better was when 5 whites came round me as I was about to caution the yellow RB. White 14 was the one that came too far, too strong and should have gone in the book for aggressive attitude - I was managing the players well and diffusing - but I agree with the assessor on that one.
General comments. I could have moved with a bit better anticipation in a few cases a little more in the second half - I didn't want to tell him I have had flu for three days! I did over 10km though! And my whistling needs some work. I just changed to more peep-peeping and I am still getting used to it, so fair enough.
Will it be enough to go up a level for when our season starts again in the spring?... my god I hope so! Fingers crossed.
Gutted that's my last middle 11-a-side until April
