I remember a certain Mr P. Scholes turning up year after year at a local gala that I refereed at, as he had an interest in one of the teams. Never made a fuss, happy to chat to anyone who recognised him.A fellow Blades fan was in Manchester at a tournament and these two old codgers turn up.
Why?As a referee, predominantly in youth football, I'm always very wary of people who turn up with chairs.
Why?
Mrs PP always used to bring a chair - I don't do many youth games now, she prefers a having a "proper" seat!
So does my Mrs PP - its just a bit big to fit in the car!My Mrs PP has only been to a handful of my games. She prefers the sofa!!!
In my experience of refereeing youth matches over the last 7 years, never had any problems with people who use chairs at games, they usually just sit there drinking from their flask and keep relatively quiet. As a referee, predominantly in youth football, I'm always very wary of people who turn up with chairs.
Depends on the venue and home team. Some use a physical tape/rope with poles, others training cones or have an extra line painted outside the pitch. To some people these are all completely meaningless!Do you not have respect barriers down your way? We do here in Suffolk.
