Junior/Youth Club Assistant Referee tips?

Hi all, I'm thinking of going to an U13 game in the local area to be a CAR for the home team, any tips on this and what I should do etc?

As Mintyref suggests, go with what the referee wants. Often they won't want help with judging fouls - don't be offended; even though you are a referee in your own right the other CAR may not be so it keeps it simple.
 
Yep, to echo what others have said. Do exactly what the referee wants.

I will often run the line when I go to watch my wife play, i don't even mention the fact I'm a referee, unless it comes up in conversation (often get referees that I've worked with before etc).
 
I act as CAR for my local club most weeks. Find the ref pre-game and just say hi, I'll be running the line for XY United. They'll usually say come up with the captains before kick-off. That's it. No point mentioning you're qualified, ex-FIFA, or you invented the flag etc unless it comes up in conversation.

Listen to the briefing with the other lino - all standard stuff probably - whole of the ball out of play, which way the restart is, stay with second last defender, hold until they play the ball or are obviously blah blah... etc. Doubt any referee will want fouls from club linos, and I wouldn't be getting involved with foul throws either unless they implicitly ask me to.

Go, look pro, do what's asked of you, lots of eye contact and thumbs up, and enjoy a run around in the sun for an hour. Good for fitness and practising little things with very little pressure.

GO GET EM.

Oh, and don't wear ref kit.

It does become apparent quite quickly when you are in the middle of you've got a CAR that is it has been qualified and has done the line as a NAR though.

The little things like flag technique and crabbing tends to give it away, versus the "nowhere near being up with play" CAR
