As there is talk about contradictory information with new laws in other threads here is another.

Law 8: “If an infringement occurs when the ball is not in play this does not change how play is restarted.”
And Law 12: “Direct and indirect free kicks and penalty kicks can only be awarded for offences and infringements committed when the ball is in play.”

Yet Law 14 requires an IDFK to be awarded to the opponents if the kicker feints (unsporting) to kick the ball before the ball is in play.

And this shall be forever knowns as ... the "one" exception - after its discoverer.

Oh but there are more possible exceptions but i shall not disappoint you TomThom.
