I understand the laws are the laws but in all seriousness, who benefits from that? I don’t see the harm in downgrading the card but giving a warning to say had this been a league game, you’d be off. The opposition team are never going to be screaming for a Red in a preseason game.Ref it the same as every other game.
Sent a keeper off a few weeks ago for DOGSO. Got shout from coaches, its only a friendly.
Laws are laws boys

Violent conduct, INOFFABUS etc yes, get them gone. It’s never acceptable to cause harm or abuse an individual but DOGSO? That can be managed responsibly to let everyone just carry on playing football
No need to justify a red. DOGSO is DOGSOYou could yellow for DOGSO, your issue then comes later on when you do have to go red for something else, of course to the other team
balancing act
aside from that, on occassion, right time, right place, you can try justifying your red by explaining in s real game, you would need quickly reorganise, so, use it as practise

Yeah you did the right thing.Last big friendly I did had an ex prem striker coaching. I gave a blatant SPA second yellow RC. The benches are then both asking my AR1 to let them carry on 11 vs 11.
FFS I just said no. Rock and a hard place. The second yellow was a blatant trip preventing a run on goal one-on-one from halfway. 20 yards nearer goal would be DOGSO. If I don’t give it I’m f***** as there will be complaints.
After the RC I can’t allow 11 vs 11, these were in the top couple of u17 and u20 teams on the country. So, I quickly said no and pointed out that there’s still value in ”training” 10 vs 11 for 20 minutes. As it was the end of the game was cracking - but I totally understand why some people won’t do friendlies.
I know I won’t get invited back. I have top flight womens futsal next week. I will make it clear it’s ”full match conditions” in the prematch.
Well it could be argued that it benefits both teams in that the 10 now need to learn to play as a ten and the 11 now need to learn to break down a team playing as a 10.I understand the laws are the laws but in all seriousness, who benefits from that? Not really my problem. Where do you draw the line if I don’t red for that but red for something later on?
If they wanted no cards in a friendly, dont pay me money to do the game. Simple
This. If you want officials from your "level" then pay them the same rate and expect them to do the same job. The players train midweek, I keep fit... a match is a match, not a do some of it-match.If they wanted no cards in a friendly, dont pay me money to do the game. Simple
Also agreed 100% here. Had a player last pre-season throw a punch, only a young lad, and didn't connect, but both those points are irrelevant. Manager was quick to wheel out the "he needs to learn" line of defence. I responded by saying he just has.Not really my problem. Where do you draw the line if I don’t red for that but red for something later on?
