Open Age Rolling Subs

Got a game Saturday in an adult league that operates rolling subs.

Any advice on whether to handle this any differently to a game that's got 3 from 5?

Not really just be aware that the same number of players are going off the pitch as are coming on, especially if the team seem disorganised.

Check the competition rules - we have an OA league with roro subs, but the rules say they can name 5, but only use 4 - those four can can come on, and those they replace can come back on as often as they like, but there will be one Sub who can't. You don't know which one until they have made their first four changes (assuming a substituted player doesn't come back on before four named subs have been introduced).

Clear as mud eh?

Just make a note of numbers on & off.

In youth matches with rolling subs and no assistants or 4th official subs are an absolute pain. They'll make about 3 at once and at that level you can't really book them for coming on to the pitch before the substituted player is off, nor is it possible to insist that they come on and off at the half-way line. Sometimes when both teams make multiple subs at the same time I have to recount the players before I allow play to restart!
