How is there a foul if the player isn't affected in the slightest? Don't forget, we're to ignore minor or trifling infringements.
Take the simulation out of it - are you ever going to penalise a player just for having a handful of shirt? Of course not, you're not going to blow the whistle until the opponent is actually affected in some way.

If 2 players are chasing a ball at equal speeds, red holding blues shirt but not the other way around and red wins the ball, we’d all give the foul for holding the shirt, but if they were running at the same speed the opponent wouldn’t have been effected. I can see where you’re coming from but I don’t personally see it as above, I think there’s an element of match control to this as well. If players around you hear the above statement, they’ll all start holding each other as a joke
